Very expensive, has set menues and a la carte. The resturnat is composed from 5 old canal housed combined that's why the name 5 flies . every room is different so make sure you go through them all as it is a museum. check the prices before you go so you won't be surprised

Got an early reservation on a busy weekend. Glad we did. We had tenderloin, guinea fowl and the vegetarian. The veggie looked good but I had the fowl and it was moist and flavorful. The other guest said the beef was great. We had a young waiter who gave wonderful descriptions of the food items- he recommended the pumpkin soup... More

I have been to Amsterdam many times, but never had the chance to eat here. We booked a table for two and were looking forward to the meal. When we arrived, it took about 10 minutes for anyone to even greet us. We were then shown to a table in one of the first rooms. It was a small table... More

Dear guest, Thank you for placing a review online. I am very sorry to read dinner did not live up to your expectations, please accept my apologies for that. Lovely 5 course menu with selections made by chef. Service was great, food was very good but not excellent. It would have been helpful to know what you were getting ahead of time.

We try to find one spectacular splurge restaurant on every vacation. For our trip to Amsterdam this was it. The small menu changes regularly, the wine list was excellent. However, the item that attracted our attention was their multi course meal option. We had the option of 4-5-6 courses with our without per course wines. The unusual part was that... More

Dear guest, Thank you very much for placing such an extensive and nice review online, great! The restaurant is called the Five Flies because the first person who lived in the building of 1627 was called Jan Janszoon, a very common name. Because he was so thin he got a nickname which was fly. From the start the restaurant consisted... More

Ate here before and had a great experience, so decided to introduce to friends. Pre booked a month before for an 8.00pm booking, rang on the day to ask if we could move to 8.30pm as we may be late. No problem. Arrived at 8.20pm and they weren't expecting us as they had 7.30pm on their system. They put us... More

We came here on a recommendation from our hotel, and an excellent recommendation it was! The interior is lovely - there is 17th C glassware on show, the ceiling timbers I believe came from a VoC merchantman and so on - bit like a small museum! The food though is excellent. We both had the cod, and it was very... More

This restaurant is set in five 17th Century houses. It is a little bit rambly, but has a shed-full of character (including some original Rembrant pictures). The food choice is limited, but the presentation, quality and service is excellent.
