the Van Baerle is one of our old favorites in Amsterdam. A nice , slightly old fashionb bourgeois atmosphere, a typical Amsterdam style restaurant in Oud Zuid. Nice salads, excellent entrecôte withi homemade chichuri-style auce, reasonably priced wine list.

We really enjoyed our evening. The food was very good. I especially enjoyed my dessert, which was coffee, a choice of sweets and a liqueur of my choice. It was delicious, especially the lemon curd! But what really made this restaurant stand out was the staff - so friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. I can't praise them enough! The decor is... More

This can be described as a high end brasserie. Both the produce and the execution are very good. In one of their menus, I was impressed that one of the options for main was a turbot, perfectly cooked and more flavoursome than some had at more expensive restaurants. A starter of asparagus was also fine, and so was an intriguing... More

We were so impressed with Van Baerle - it was a beautiful dining room and lovely service. To me it didn't feel like what I would usually consider a 'Brasserie' - more a fine dining experience. I had the steak, which was amazing along with their signature walnut salad. Would highly recommend it. We felt in the UK based on... More

Came here for dinner on a Sunday the restaurant was not too busy but everyone had reservations. A limited menu but between us we had a number of different dishes, all delicious and well presented. Only draw back was the service - friendly staff but very slow.

Inviting and attractive interior I was lucky to get a table without a reservation and am glad I did. Time restraints meant I went for main course only of Veal rib eye with squid and paella which was simply wonderful. The waitress was very knowledgable on wine and the recommendation was perfect. This was a fleeting visit but I will... More

This is a great location if you are going to a concert at the concertgebouw. It is a elegant, good service, good food, and reasonable prices. You can arrange reservations on their website. I noted vegan and vegetarian options on the menu.

I Took my husband and his parents there for dinner when they came to visit and they were very impressed. The meal was amazing and the service excellent, my husband chose an fantastic bottle of wine to go with the meal and we all stayed for coffee and desert which we don't normally do in a restaurant. This is the... More

This restaurant has been forever on my list. Situated in my favorite street of Amsterdam we had a wonderful evening. The staff was great, friendly, real and personal. They also had good knowledge about the products and the wines. The dishes were very nice, fresh products, classic dishes wish I love (Take the steak tartare!). Definitely a recommendation to go... Neighbourhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
