A really cosy restaurant with helpful and friendly staff and delicious food. My boyfriend had guinea fowl and I had a prawn and coconut curry and a lovely rosé.

After searching Nieuwmarkt for a restaurant on a recent Saturday night, we serendipitously came upon Van Beeren. Though the menu is meat centric, we had an excellent spinach soup to boot. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, and the beer selection on tap is excellent. Do make a reservation, though we were able to walk in. Seating at the... More

Was recommended this place by David at The Tulip of Amsterdam B&B and was NOT disappointed. Had to sit at the bar as it was packed (and being a lone diner I suspect did not help), but the ribs and draught beer (Jupiler) were great. I had been travelling all afternoon and was not particularly hungry, but needed to eat... More

Attractive restaurant with good food. My companions had a great daily meal. I myself took the spare ribs which was a bit too dry because they left out the normal honey grill marinade. Still, it was acceptable. A glass of wine for 5 euros is upmarket as is the price for a bottle of red Rioja (30 euros). A bit... More

A friendly eating place with great service and quality food and drink. Feels like a local place and pretty traditional authentic fare. Was tricky to get a table because its so busy which added to the great atmosphere. Well worth a visit.

Really affordable prices compared to the other popular restaurants in the centar. Very warm and pleasant atmosphere with scrumptious food.

I live in Amsterdam and I suggest this place to people I know. Always good. Small and cosy, and hardly visible from the streets so make sure you know where to look.

We were waiting for an other restaurant but there were too many people, so a stranger suggest this place and we followed his advice. The place was very nice and characteristic. We got 2 different steaks, both very good and tasty. Completely sodisfied! Recommended ;)

Thank Leonardo A

Neighbourhood Profile
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
