Really good sushi is never really cheap. But this place does offer great value for money. I very much like the service - lady boss is cheaky but very nice and all staff helpful. They have great sake choices too - the warm house sake...More

Our local hosts in Amsterdam's Jordaan district recommended this restaurant enthusiastically, so we invited them to dinner there. The food was quite good, especially the sushi and sashimi, but was quite expensive for what we got. But the service...ah, the service. In a word, it...More

We were staying in the neighborhood for 4 nights as part of a longer vacation. One night we were in the mood for sushi and had walked past Akitsu several times. We decided to give it a go and had a great experience. The food...More

Akitsu is the oldest japanese and surely one of the best japanese in town with a lot of variety. its very cosy and for having been in Japan you sure have a feeling of the origins when you eat there.

Freshest sushi, delicious tempura and a lot more authentic Japanese dishes. If that's what you miss while enjoying your holidays in Amsterdam, this is the place to find. You won't regret it and your family will love you for your 'discovery'. The staff which looked...More

If it is on the menu (not always) you should definitely try the sashimi of hamachi (yellowtail kingfish) and toro (fatty tuna). It is pricy, but worth every euro. You cannot have it fresher than at Akitsu. Very good are also the iberico spare ribs,...More

Found this place by chance and really pleased we did. As there was such a large choice on the menu we gave our waitress a budget and asked her to suggest what we should eat. All of the food she recommended was fantastic and the...More

I was invited by my Japanese colleagues to join a wider group to visit a typical Japanese restaurant. Very friendly and dedicated staff with quite some flexibility regarding special menu requests. However, the food is relatively standard and does not differ from other Japanese places....More

One of Amsterdam’s most preferred outdoor markets and
some of the city’s favorite watering holes are but two
of the many reasons to save ample time for a stroll
through this especially convivial warren of narrow
streets with its unfair share of quirky shops and
quality galleries. Historically a haven for the
working class and emigrants, these days the Jordaan is
better known as an enclave for artists and designers.
