Chanced upon this place after finally finding somewhere to park the interior is very traditional and the menu is small but varied the food we had was delicious and the staff very friendly and welcoming. The prices are reasonable considering this is in the city centre and Amsterdam can be very expensive. Try the traditional Dutch food such as Grandmas... More

Black big cat (the symbol of cafe) is now changing to another one (less fat and less black ;) Home-made cuisine, variety of wines, good staff. Dutch & Italian food, very cozy, in the evening quite noisy (but this is more "+" then "-") 👍🏻

An excellent place to stop and have a beer or two and take it all, good service, good beer and excellent views on the canals, what more could you ask for.

Nothing to write home about, but not bad at all. It's a lovely spot on the canal, with a large outside eating area, away from main hustle of town, but busy enough for tourists and the odd local. Nice atmosphere, and the food was standard fare, sandwiches, panini, salad and local dishes such as croquette and bitter ballen. Reasonably priced... More

This became a regular stop for us during our time in Amsterdam. Cozy, warm atmosphere. Did not eat as this was normally a nightcap stop for us on our way back to our hotel after a day of museums.

We popped in here for some lunch and liked the chilled vibe so much that we went back after dinner - when it was slightly more upbeat. House red was lovely, staff friendly and food simple but good with reasonable choice for vegetarians.

If you are looking for a warm coffee, a fresh draft beer or a tasty bite in a quiet area of Amsterdam, you just found the right spot. I particularly like this place for its wooden tables, warm atmosphere and because it represents for me what Amsterdam coffee can offer you : a cosy place to rest after a long... More

We visited this place in the evening January 8th 2017. There were only few visitors at this time. Beware of somebody sitting right behind you back to back!!! I got my wallet pulled out from my inner pocket of my coat which was hanging right on my chair. After all the guy behind me somehow returned my empty wallet back... More

Went with friends for a drink to get in out of the cold. Nice atmosphere, good tea and tasty chips and the staff were friendly.

Neighbourhood Profile
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
