I stayed in the Museum district for 3 days recently and visited this place 3 times. Sadly, due to its popularity I only managed to get a table once and that was just for drinks. So I can only comment on the friendliness of the staff and it looked very nice. Our drinks were served quickly and there was a... More

they forgot to order our food, we waited for it one hour when we asked for the order we waited another hour they waited us another hour. It was really bad attitude to lie to us and it was so rude to forget our food!

Cool, busy bar/restaurant. We had to wait 40 minutes for a table but that's ok as we just had a drink at the bar and absorbed atmosphere. Food was excellent, perfectly cooked steak. Simple and done right. Restaurant didn't feel touristy, seemed to be mostly locals. Service was laid back but attentive. I would happily eat here again.

Quick service. Perfectly positioned for people watching. Good choice of drinks and cocktails and prices are the same as everywhere else. We'd go back.

Great steak served medium-rare in its own gravy - simple and delicious. Order with fries. Good central location.

The steak was delicious, it comes in a gravy and you get bread to mop it all up. Sounds a bit basic, it really isn't. The shrimp croquette starter was also amazing, we considered ordering it again instead of dessert it was that nice. You can make reservations on their website but they only make a limited amount of spots... More

I wanted to rate this as average (the food was good, they serve good steaks for a decent price) but the service was very friendly and attentive so I'm rating this as Very Good. No frills, no fuss, just good food for a decent price.

It is a nice environment and it has quite a lot of selection for lunch and dinner, in a rather traditional Dutch cafe. Food is OK. Most of the staff we met were not are particularly friendly, some even a bit rude.

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighbourhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
