This is not what you will expect at all. The cuisine is Moroccan or North African, the setting is a converted mosque. The service is quite poor and the food is average. Very quirky setting, with mosaics and Christmas lights and a large overbearing bar in the middle.

This place was recommended to us by our hostel (the closeby Cocomama hostel) and it was such a great recommendation! I had the fish couscous and my friend had the royal persian lamb. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals and the servings were massive, the couscous especially could be shared between two people and for 13 euros that makes it... More

Charming converted church is entered through heavy velvet curtains. Inside is a Moroccan bazaar, pottery and tiles and a great atmosphere. The staff are helpful and charming. All the food is tempting but we enjoyed sharing a bizarre bazar - a feast of flavours. Do not miss the ladies loo for a visual delight!

Stumbled upon this place by accident when shopping at the Albert cyup market... The interior of the place was quirky and the food was tasty and good value for money - I would recommend this to anyone. Also the waitress was very friendly.

The place is located close to the center with very competitive prices and good food. I recommend to visit it, specially if you like the middle eastern food (Turkish etc...). The local looks very nice and is really big so it is perfect for big groups as well. The service was ok and they bring the food fast to the... More

This place is really special, as you really get the feeling of a Middle-Eastern Bazar. It is located right in the middle of the Cuypstraat market, so the meat and vegetables they serve are always really fresh. Try the mint-tea and some Lamb-based Iranian/Persian dishes, they are very good! Prices are slightly higher compared to other spots offering the same... More

We visited on a Wednesday, 4 persons of whom 2 are living in Amsterdam as expats. It was not their first visit 😋 We had the Bazar Bizarre, different meat on a skewer accopanied by lots of different sauces, veggies and even fries with mayo (of course!). Red wine with that and it was very tasty with exciting spices and... More

The interior it's too much for my taste, on the limit of carnival. The food was premade and not even well heated to served :/, the service was constantly in a hurry to take our plates, as a result you don't feel comfortable to enjoy your meal. * Also the guy in the entrance is impolite with no manners at... Staying in De Pijp

Neighbourhood Profile
De Pijp
Bustling Albert Cuypstraat serves as the main drag through De Pijp and the location for Albert Cuyp Market, the largest and most famous of Amsterdam’s many outdoor markets. Beyond this sometimes-frantic thoroughfare, tiny lanes beckon urban explorers in search of the latest trends and hidden gems. Nearly half the residents living in De Pijp are foreigners and a good number of them are students. Here you'll find a multitude of ethnic restaurants, great cafes and bars, and a brilliant array of locally owned shops, all catering to a broad range of budgets and tastes.
