Fantastic meal. The exceptionally friendly proprietor Kassimou showed great pride in his food and respect for food. Small, casual and intimate, you are invited to take your own drink from the fridge and tally up later. The menu is limited to the best food sourced that day, but at the buffet style bar where all the dishes are on display... More

Excellent food in small or large buffet selections (small is large, large is huge - both excellent value), with selections served with either cos-cous or rice. Very small place, but with canal views, friendly service and a few shelves of North African delicacies if you want to have a go at home.

This is the second time we ate here. Each time is great. Wonderful nomadic food. When you order a mezze, you get something different each time. But it is always a good surprise. They have good wine as well. The staff is very accommodating and super nice. They have 2 locations (same owners).... both times we went to the Westergasfabriek... More

I was lazy and wanted to stay in so my inn keeper host (from Decor Canal House) recommended the place. I had the pumpkin with goats cheese and the salmon in couscous which was really really good. It's a small place that sits only 10 but the take out was neatly packed in nice containers. I will go back there... More

Our first time eating Algerian food-really good! You select either cous-cous or rice; select a kind of meat (chicken, salmon, veggie) and two veggies. Portions are ample and steaming hot! We were the first table for the evening meal, so our food was heated up within 10-15 minutes. Veggies were fresh and chicken was flavorful! Overall-charming place with good food,... More

Beautiful place but bit grumpy people. We ordered couscous with two different kinds of vegetables and one meat, one fish. It was heated in the oven and without any sauce it was a bit dried out, esp the merguez. We had to ask for bread which should come automatically with a dish like this but they could not provide. With... More

Had a wonderful lunch here with my daughter - we chose the fragrant rice with salmon, and courgette and pumpkin veg. She loved the salmon, and even had some veg too! The spices and herbs were delicate and tasty too. We had a lovely table with a view of the canal - perfect! Recommended.

Cool place right on the canal. Agree with the other comments about the confusing system of what food you can and can't have. There is a blackboard outside explaining (set plate of rice or couscous, 2 veg, 1 meat or veg main) but nothing inside and no menu. Guy was a little grumpy and impatient when we did understand when... More

In the Jordan, across the street (PRINTZENGRACHT) from the Pulitzer Hotel on the corner. This small cafe was first, then followed by the full restaurant of same name. Indonesian/Moroccan foods selection from a case. Small plate, large plate or to go. After walking for hours I stumbled across this gem. Some heat, some sweet. The flavors, colors and selections are... More

I am used to come here once in a month for enjoying a Sunday brunch with northern African cousine.. .you can select your mix of vegetables and meat accompanied with couscous or yellow rice ...the selection is always outstanding and the ingredients are always fresh. I have tried different veggies and different types of meats and I was never disappointed... More

Staying in Jordaan

Neighbourhood Profile
Jordaan
One of Amsterdam’s most preferred outdoor markets and some of the city’s favorite watering holes are but two of the many reasons to save ample time for a stroll through this especially convivial warren of narrow streets with its unfair share of quirky shops and quality galleries. Historically a haven for the working class and emigrants, these days the Jordaan is better known as an enclave for artists and designers. As popular as the Jordaan is as a destination for locals and out-of-towners alike, the area never feels particularly touristy or overrun with outsiders. A highlight even for long-time Jordaan residents, be sure to accept any invitation to step within one of the area’s beloved courtyards or to have a sneak peek inside one of its many working studios.
