Quite simply the best turbot we've ever had, with a wine list to match. In France you can no longer generally dine in a "bistro" without risking poor quality food at high prices but this doesn't apply to bistro mer in The Hague.

I don't post many bad reviews but this restaurant was a bad experience. We arrived and were presented wit a "summer menu" . The manager/head waiter seemed to be very keen to sell us oysters which we declined. We chose Mussels and then seafood platter The mussels were OK but not great, (we had just come from Bruges where they... More

As the title, it is just way too much money for okay quality and service. The female waitresses are okay; the manager however can only recommend the most expensive oysters, plates and wine. Diplomats probably like this, but where is the passion to deliver good food and service for a good price? Further, less entertaining was when the manager thought... More

Charming service with bid smiles. Coquilles St Jacques simply excellent, great fish soup too and very good cod and sole. Basically all the fish is great, but since it's a fish restaurant that's no surprise. The decor is quite old, but I liked it, it feels authentic, there are lots of places with a pared down Scandinavian feel, this had... More

The food quality was there, no doubt about this and I would not hesitate to go back! On the other hand, it is clear that they feel better for sea food as I had to send my steak back as it was not cooked the right way and they also forgot the foie gras for the rossini part! Nevertheless the... More

Fish is really good, I advise the boulliabesse. Nevertheless, the decor needs some upgrading/renovation, unless we like old fashion (e.g. 80s)

This elegant French-style bistro has been in business for over 30 years. I last visited 11 years ago and very little had changed. The menu seemed unaltered and I thoroughly enjoyed grilled oysters, coquilles St Jacques and their ever-excellent bouillabaise. Delicious half bottle of Sancerre to accompany. Service, mainly from girls studying at the local catering college, was efficient and... More

The clue is in the name so if you dont like fish then dont go! I found the service pretty quick and very friendly and the food was great - basically fish served pretty simply and good wine.

Fantastic food! We took big plate with oysters, muslecs, crab and so on for two people. Oysters were from the Netherlands (3 sorts) and from France (one sort ). Grilled tuna was perfect ! Very friendly personal ! Recommended for people who appreciate seafood ! The same experience as in restaurants in Yerseke!

One of the best seafood restaurants in The Hague. Be careful how much wine you drink while you're waiting for it to arrive though. Expect to spend two hours for a two course meal.
