My wife and I recently had dinner at La Porte des Indes. We heard that the restaurant was one of the - if not the - best Indian restaurant in Brussels. This made our disappointment even bigger. On Saturday nights the restaurant offers a buffet which does not go cheap - 40 € per person - but with a relatively... More

Their lunch deals were great, and food is delicious here. With them now closing for lunch, I find it a little expensive for what you get. The staff is very attentive and polite though (rare for Brussels) and ladies get flowers when they leave. Nice touch :)

Great food, service and atmosphere, friendly staff. On the more expensive end of Indian food but all was delicious. Book in advance as it can get busy to the end of the week and at the weekend.

Food is absolutely delicious, atmosphere is very cosy (great for romantic/family dinner), service could be a bit better, as could the selection of wines. But overall, my favourite Indian resto in Brussels, been there a few times and will certainly go again!

We came here for a business dinner, quite a long ride from the centre of Brussels. Competent Indian cooking, although a bit stiff and directed towards business clients, but all the dishes were well done. Very polite and courteous staff. The décor and the setting look a bit Thai-influenced.

The food is excelent and the decorations cozy. The staff is very friendly and the service excellent. The wine selection is good for the food on offer. Good quality buffet and nice Indian red wine.

Actually I had to leave and find a plan B - I couldnt eat there at all since they have nothing vegan. The staff was not even nice.

It is very difficult to find an Indian, as opposed to Bangla/Silheti, restaurant anyway. In Brussels it is almost impossible. The main problem is that the "Belgian" taste, if there is such a thing, does not appreciate highly spiced or hot food, so inevitably the recipes for dishes is dumbed down so that what one is served barely resembles what... The smells from the kitchen were very promising when we first arrived, but unfortunately the dishes themselves didn't deliver. I had the Lamb Kebab as starter, which tasted somewhat bland. For main, I had the chicken biryani which had a little spiciness, not much else going for it in terms of flavour. As dessert, the trio of sorbets was pretty... More

La Porte des Indes is widely celebrated as the best Indian restaurant in Brussels. Set in a beautifully converted Ixelles mansion on the heaving Avenue Louise, La Porte des Indes is decorated in rich wood carvings, warm red-toned colour scheme, masses of flowers and lush plantings, and Colonial style Indian furniture. The costumed waitstaff make the setting complete. This is another success from the Blue Elephant group, so you know the ingredients are of the highest quality. See for yourself. Roam the menu and try dishes like specialities starter of Crab Malabar, a warm salad of flaked crabmeat and corn kernels, main course of something classic like fiery chicken vindaloo and finish with a palate-freshening mango sorbet. Wines are thoughtfully matched to the dishes.
