This is the kind of place that lots of people, particularly locals, rave about. They make any kind of coffee you want, have lots of variety of beans, and exude a sense of old world authority. They've been here before Starbucks was in Europe and they know it. People who go here wouldn't be caught dead in Starbucks. The place... More

Great coffebar with the best qualities of coffee. The ambiance is a bit like a café and during your stay its easy to contact locals and tourist. The Gentian Newspaper is at the tables and the service is friendly. If you like your coffee, you can also buy coffeebeans or different kinds of tea. Just missed some cake or chocolate... More

It use to be a great place for locals and immigrants. It was lovely to sip a coffee at the same table with some Turkish older men. Now the renovated the place a year ago. Less table ugly lights and no more older men. It is a pity we came there weekly, Gone is nostalgia!

I only mention that as this gorgeous place is next to Starbucks. How does the latter have anyone in? Tasty hot coffee and such a range to choose from. Lovely presentation.

If you are craving for a coffee shot, please give Starbucks a miss, because located behind, Starbucks, up the crooked lane is MOKABON. This is the pride of Gent and a secret address for coffee connoisseurs. This is what real coffee is all about. The interior is traditional, with darkened wood panelling and wooden chairs. Can be a bit cramp,... More

Another recommendation but didn't disappoint. The coffee was great and there's a wide range with the menu explaining all different types of coffee as it is served. We stopped in over the lunch break with one person on and we seemed more of an inconvenience than a welcome customer but that was maybe our timing. Still, we went fir coffee,... More

This is one of those places locals love and tourists often skip, because of it looks. Agreed, we can't call it thé most modern place around to drink your coffee... but believe me it is one of the best cups you'll ever drank! It is almost impossible to get a table sometimes.

I tucked in here for a coffee on a rainy afternoon. The coffee was wonderful and the cafe is interesting. It's buzzing with energy and was a nice place to sit for a while.

A proper, old coffee bar, staff with some attitude, espressos that will make you see through time. Beats the Starbucks next door by any standards. Usually swing by for a takeaway cappuccino when in the neighborhood.

I had difficulty finding a decent coffee in Brussels and Bruges and this cafe served the best coffee so far. Staff were friendly and the patrons there very helpful to tourists like me. I am glad I dropped in.
