We had dinner here 3 times and it was always really good. Typical regional kitchen, good open wines for a really fair price. The service was most attentive and friendly. Nice panoramic view over the valley. Can recommend it warmly.

This is one of a handful of restaurants in the village and was recommended by our hotel staff, who we later realised may be related to the restaurant (as others have found). It is modern and looks out on to the main village square with the restaurant upstairs and a small bar area downstairs by the entrance. The restaurant has... More

The dinner became a funny show because of the poorly food we ate. But must say, we where warn about this by TripAdvisor and Lonely Planet, that there is no where in Marvao that has good food. So in this restaurant we where happy about everything that was good. So the price is good. It's not expensive. The sangria we... More

Did not have a lot of choice unfortunately but it looked very nice. Unfortunately we were bitterly disappointed. Service was OK but food was below average. It was really expensive for what we had. Would not go there again.

We had dinner there one night and enjoyed our experience. The food was good, the portions very generous, the service is prompt and friendly, the place is clean and nicely renovated. Overall a good dinner and a sound choice when in Marvao.

We had pretty lame service (very disinterested) but the food turned out to be OK in the end... A pretty rubbish experience by Portuguese standards, but Marvao is a very small place with not much competition... it worked for a 1 night experience ;-)

The restaurant was recommended by two people in the village, which we later found out was linked to the hotel we stayed at. The restaurant staff were very dour and indifferent. Our dishes were unappetizing and poorly presented. The meat was tough. We ordered a green salad, but got cooked cabbage instead!

Restaurant Varanda is on a great location especially if you seat outside overlooking the town. The food is good and honest and I would recommend the potato migas with fried meats. Service is friendly but misses a smile. Overall a good place to go.
