I last went to this restaurant when I was 8, and I have just been back 16 years later- and the food is still fab. I had the scallop linguine special and the chocolate mousse, one of the best restaurants in Portugal

One of our favourite restaurants, this place never disappoints. Whilst it's a little out of the way for us heading over from Carvoeiro, it's always worth making the trip. Marlene, the Chef Patron (seemingly) effortlessly makes the whole experience at O Alambique very calm and relaxing. Nothing is ever rushed, the food is always excellent and the ambience refined. Having read recent excellent reviews, we booked for dinner, but found the service poor and the food average. We do appreciate that the food is cooked to order, but the waiting time from ordering, to being served and huge gap in clearing plates from the table and delivering the next course was far from acceptable. It was quite noticeable that... More

I visited O Alambique with two friends and without doubt it was the best food we had eaten on our 10 day trip to Silves. I had the Salmon Rosti starter followed by the lamb. Such wonderfully cooked food, I love lamb but I think this was the best I've ever eaten. My friend had the prawns to start followed... More

Marlen is a great host, and the food way above average. Pumpkin soup to start with: delicious!! The deer as main course outstanding. Very reasonable prices.

They make seasonal food, and truly care about what you eat and drink. We felt really welcome. The attention to detail, taste, wine was great. Highly recommended!

Great service and great price. Try the carrots and remember to ask for a dose of the local medicine.

Our visit was so good it has inspired me to type my first ever review. We dined at the restaurant three times in five days. Excellent service. Marlene even prepared special glutton free bread for second visit. Excellent food especially the steak and lamb. Good selection of wines and cozy surroundings. Can't wait to visit Portugal and the Alambique again.

My wife and I ate here twice during our honeymoon. What can I say - this restaurant is real gem: Excellent food with weekly new specialties, a wonderful guest room and an excellent service. If you happen to be in the area and look for a special place to eat, I'd always suggest O Alambique.

Staff were busy but very attentive, food was absolutely excellent - all home made with local ingredients, servings even allowed us to have room for dessert! After a few disappointing meals in other places this was a treat to find only 5 mins away following a recommendation from our villa owner.
