Low season and football night- we were the only guests at the restaurant, recommended by our guesthouse owner. The owner was very friendly, the food was very good, and the place has the charm of a bygone era. We enjoyed our evening there.

First of all, they bring out bread and butter, and charge you for it at the end, without telling you. Anything else they bring you without you ordering yourself, you are charged for, so don't assume anything is complimentary. I totally agree with the last reviewer. We were a family of five, and all of us were disgusted with our... More

Good reviews on trip advisor lead my fiance and I to this restaurant. We should have figured out that something was wrong when we were the only people eating there at 8pm. My fiance ordered a seafood dish and I had lamb. Her food was so salty that it was inedible. My lamb was so tough that I could not... More

We went to this restaurant after a recommendation by our hotel owner, as it serves local specialties. We tried the chanfana (lamb stew) and it was delicious. Owner was very friendly, and gave us a digestive on the house. Too bad there were only 3 other guests.

Let me say at the outset that I don't think the Portuguese are great cooks. Getting 'a good meal' was the height of our aspirations, generally, during our 2+ weeks in Portugal. Having said that, I heartily recommend Flor de Combria. We had the 'chafana' speciality: lamb cooked very slowly in wine; and we enjoyed our food. Some friendly German... More

We were with a group of 5 adults. The restaurant was recommended for its traditional lamb in wine-sauce. three of us ordered the lamb, two ordered pork. We got two big plates with enough meat. The pork was dry, but the lamb was good. The rice, patatos and vegetables were on an other table as a buffet. The restaurant only... More

We got a tip from our host to visit Flor de Coimbra if we like meat and would like to try a local speciality. This amazing dish was called chanfana, and was probably the best meal of our trip. We had a great chat with the owner who was extremely friendly and welcoming. The food, the wine and the service... More

I do not comprehend why other Portugese restaurants cannot or do not include a vegetarian entre on their menu, but since they don't, we were delighted to finally find this restaurant that has 3 vegetarian options on their menu! We were not sure what to expect given that the menu just says tofu pie, saute, or tofu 'meat-ball' for 11... More

Flor de Coimbra is a restaurant with a unique and very intimate atmosphere, situated in the oldest hotel in Coimbra. Typical Portuguese food (fish, meat and vegetarian menu) and charming fado music made your experience unforgettable!

The negative reviewer is right. Dreadful food in a nice room. I'd rather have paid for the free port and got the nasty food free. Like many tripadvisor 4 star restaurants in Portugal, the glowing reviews have a dstinct niff of google translation and the wishful thinking of mine host.
