Amazingly, Trinidade has established itself as a 'must' for the gullible tourist because of its good location, overkill ceramic tile walls and what maybe was once considered to be "local flavor". Today's crude reality is that it has become a brutally overrated and mediocre joint with below par food, dismal service and bloated prices. The place thrives on once only... More

This was along from our hotel, so we nipped in for a quick drink. The decor and atmosphere are worth the visit itself. The staff were friendly, politely correcting my Portuguese! we decided to stay and have lunch. The food didn't disappoint. Would go back in a second!

Excellent restaurant , lovely fare, pleasant staff, situated on a main avenue in Barrio Alto .The building housing the restaurant was previously a monastery and redeems a lot of its past.

Every time we visit Lisbon, we have to get sea-food at this beautiful and funny Cerveceria. This time, we had "Queen of the Sea", a delicious choise. We sat in the restaurant this time, even though I prefer the more decorated part of the Cerveceria. Usually we always take dessert, but this time the plate was so big that we... More

The food is very average but OK. It's primarily a seafood place. We went there first of all to se their famous tile pictures on the walls. We were not disappointed. As we were there we also had lunch. The menu consist mostly of seafood courses. Nothing to be excited about but otherwise quite OK.

We've been sent to this restaurant by our hotel. The decor is very simple, however still represents the history of the place. Food was good, the clams soup I found it delicious, interpretating perfectly the Portuguese cuisine. As Maine I opted for a fish stew, was good although a little bit too salty. My friend had the lamb, well this one... More

Lisbon generally. is a nighttime city. Pass a place during the day you'll walk by, but walk past the same spot at night and there is a place that you never thought could be there. That is the same about The Trinidade. Beautiful tiles wonderful food, (try the octopus salad) Generally a place not to miss out on. Develop the... More

Vieram os bifes frios e depois ainda tivemos que esperar pelos acompanhamentos. A cerveja, per si, não vale a pena o regresso. Steaks were served cold and we even had to wait for the sides dishes. Beer not good enough to come back.

Not sure what the raving is about: the soup was too salty and not hot. The Gambas were ok but hey there is not much you can do with gambas hispanicos. The prices for the quality are just too high.

Staying in Chiado & Carmo

Neighbourhood Profile
Chiado & Carmo
The traditionally trendy "Chiado" (literally, "squeak", the nickname of a 16th century poet) offers plenty of cafes, restaurants and bars where you can stop for a cafe or cocktail, after exploring its streets, shops, art galleries, theaters, museums and viewpoints. It's also the home to the statue of the famous statue of portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa, having is usual espresso at "A Brasileira" as he used to. You can also enjoy breathtaking views of Lisbon from the Elevador de Santa Justa or the Carmo Convent, for example. A commercial neighborhood at its core, especially for its Garrett and Carmo streets, Chiado is to this day a mandatory visit in Lisbon.
