We thought we were being smart by avoiding the most obvious tourist traps and going for this unassuming place that offers seafood and meat dishes for a small price. I ordered the traditional Portuguese beef stew and it was by far the worst meal I have ever had in a restaurant. Disgusting pieces of dry meat and fat on top... More

We went their by default. It very well known restaurant just up the street.we didn't going there because the line was to the street. So we just started walk back toward our hotel window shopping the restaurant. We said it some people sitting inside and they sale seafood so why not. Boy were we glad we did so. The friendliest... On the advice of other reviews, I took my wife to this restaurant as she was looking for a "typical experience". The owner/waiter grunted at us, yelled at his wife in the kitchen, walked away twice during our ordering process and delivered some of the most disgusting food I have ever tried to eat. Cold bread, hard butter, fishy stinky... More

We passed all the people trying to entice us into their restaurants and looked at the reviews people had written in the window of this restaurant, which didn't look great from outside. The reviews were good and we decided to go in. The guy who served us was a gentleman and was very accommodating to is and out 2 lively... More

On Christmas night 2014, we were looking for the authentic, for the real deal, for the Lisboan experience: that's where we found it! After walking the horrible tourist restaurant's street, we found that place. Neon lights, large TV on, basic walls decoration, small tables, only locals eating. Simply perfect! The owner, always with a smile on his face, is taking... More

We were wandering down the street looking for a place for dinner...we passed the door way to restaurant Tronco and stopped to have a look in as it looked nothing like all the other restaurants in that area. It was nearly full and looked like a simple, unpretentious, locals kind of place so thought we'd venture in. We both ordered... More

Restaurante Tronco does not entice with persuasive waiters, such as can be found further down this street when it becomes Rua Das Portas Do Santo Antao. Nor might you choose it for a romantic dinner. But for kindly staff, generous portions and prices to meet the expectations of local residents, it hits the spot. Close to Residencial Portuense hotel, also... More

Very nice little restaurant with local atmosphere. Good homemade food ,you gotta wait a little , its not going out of microwave after 3 mins. Grilled sardines are mine numer one here. Prices are very reasonable as well ,20euro for 2 dishes with whole bottle of wine , and portions are quite big.

We ate there in June 12, 2014 recommended by a friend. We were not disappointed. The restaurant is a small, family run hole-in-a-wall kind of cozy, loverly place. You need to get there early to get a table; otherwise, the locals and other educated tourists will fill up the place. We were there around 8pm on a Thursday night and... More
