We came by this restaurant after a recommendation by our walking tour guide. What a gem! We love finding local restaurants that serve up tasty, authentic cuisine for affordable prices and this place ticks all the boxes. Hearty portions too! If you're looking for fine dining, this is not the joint to go to. The service is fast but friendly.... More

Two years ago we dropped in here to take refuge from the merciless heat. This time we made a bee-line for it, knowing the value that was to be had here in their coffee and cakes. We didn't have enough lunches and dinners to eat here, unfortunately but we did enough coffee and cakes to know that we would miss... More

We accidentally stumbled upon this restaurant on the way to the castle for a quick lunch. It happens to be the place with good food, fast service and very honest prices. Lot of local workers are eating their lunch here, which is always a good sign. We had excellent sardines (7 EUR per plate) and a bottle of very good... More

Good food, fair prices, full of portuguese people, workers as good as suits are usual clients of this restaurant. Noisy but good. Try the daily menu. Good homemade sweets.

Nice cheap busy good - everything you want on the go! Never disappoints especially when you are on budget. And start speaking Portuguese your waiter may even answer in French or English if you are nice enough... 😜

We went here on recommendation from our guide, and was good for a glass of vino verde and some traditional roast cod fish even though it was a bit chewy!

Fish that was recommended was perfect :) nice atmosphere... Can be crowdy around 12 - 1 pm but is perfect time to see what locals eat for a lunch break...

Worst service and the food taste like a mix of oil and trash. Never try to waste your money at here, you will be outrageous by the things you get. Try other great one, this one sucks.

Just a town centre cafe, probably lots like it. We were attracted by the meringues and baked apples. Went back following day for lunch. Fresh fish, good veg, classic puddings. Good value "home cooking". Friendly.

We were looking for a spot off the main tourist traps that wasn't expensive. There's nothing better than choosing a place which you perceive is full of locals and this was one we went back to. The service is efficient and friendly and the food is fine. Waiter was very helpful generally and even gave us advice on where to... More

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
