Case SErio is located near the Cathedral in Alfama. My husband and I were welcomed by a staff that spoke English and provided excellent suggestions from their varied menu. We tried various tapas which included cheese, bread, fish and wonderful Portuguese sausage. The wine selection was reasonably priced and we enjoyed a bottle recommended by our waiter. Desserts looked fantastic, but... More

My wife and I stumbled in here on a cold and rainy evening when we didn't want to stray too far from our hotel. We were pleasantly surprised with our experience. The food was great as well as the service and wine. Prices were fantastic, too. It is a cozy little restaurant with a great ambiance. Highly recommended to anyone... More

Enjoyed a late lunch on a table outside. Honey baked goats cheese was delicious with a beer and the pastel de nata and coffee were also good. Great service and location.

I booked a table at Caso SErio online for 6:30pm, but we found ourselves in Alfama earlier than we had expected , as we were already hungry, we popped in and asked if we could move the booking forward to 5pm, which was done with no problem, even though we had interrupted the staff having their dinner ( sorry x)... I went on recommendation from my nephew who had been last year. Was welcomed by Rui who I had e-mailed to reserve a table. He talked us through the varied menu and suggested dishes for us. When they came they were all lovely. We had sardines, meat and feta cheese dishes all beautifully cooked. The green wine was amazing as... More

This place was wonderful! We went in for dinner and the atmosphere was perfect. We had amazing food (bread, cheese and chorizo) by candle light and live music. The music was perfect! A soft guitar and everyone who was working in the restaurant took a turn to sing including our waiter. We loved this place, I will always remember this dining... More

The location is good and nice, the restaurant itself is artistically cute and cozy, plus the meal I ordered (goat roasted cheese with honey and garlic) was really delicious. I couldn't ask for more..actually I did but the cake was already finished ;) I definitely recommend it with no hesitation. A plus was for the cheese because I personally find... More

Happened on this place right next to the cathedral. Enjoyed some tasty small dishes and drinks in a casual friendly atmosphere. Then the music began (Thursdays and Sundays)... and it was we just had to stay. Passionate singing and guitar play - a great Portuguese experience.

We decided to go here as we were staying nearby and they had live music! Stopped in and had tapas. Seemed like the staff had to join in the music!! Right next to the cathedral (Se) and Alfama. Service was good, try the cheese with honey which they recommended. Was a bit bizarre as it seemed like someone's front room,... More

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
