We had a lovely dining experience at Carmo - delicious food, good selection of wine by the bottle and glass and a very friendly and knowledgeable waitress (Sara Lee). We returned a second time during our visit to Lisbon.

Superb food and service, good value. Waiter I think Pedro was excellent. Restaurant was recommended by our hotel and well worth seeking out.

We went as a company and the waiter ignored us for the first 20 min. The venues was poorly looking and not very cozy. The food was good, but that was the only thing that was okay. As a company of 8 we don't get why this place received good recommendations.

We booked a table for 2 on valentines night. We where a little surprised, as it turned out to be a set menu for everyone dining that evening, which we hadn't been made aware of, & we overheard other people commenting on this. However, the meal was fabulous, as was the service, & we tasted food that we perhaps would... More

Stumbled upon this restaurant while roaming the streets solo on a Friday night. I saw lots of locals so I figured it must be good. Very friendly staff and the traditional Portuguese food was delicious. I had the cabbage soup and the muscles.

Recommended by our hotel. A smaller restaurant one of five owned by the same three partners. The quality of food was excellent and our waitress gave great suggestions.

Warm and cozy atmosphere, lovely staff. We chose very typical dishes - the black pork to start, the bacalhao with cabbage - which were both perfect. Many restaurants do that version of cod, but this was a particularly good interpretation. Prices more than fair!

Amazing food and service. We had 2 gluten free people and 1 vegetarian person also allergic to shellfish. Our waitress was amazing and so accommodating. She knew exactly what everyone was able to eat. Their lunch menu is 12€ which includes soup or salad, main course, dessert, a drink, and coffee. Technically, the vegetable lasagna was not included in the... More

Truly delightful - the food was really delicious, (both local Portuguese cod main and ham starter, and the veggie options) atmosphere really stylish yet cosy and our waitress Patricia was attentive, helpful and charming. Strongly recommend!

Staying in Chiado & Carmo

Neighbourhood Profile
Chiado & Carmo
The traditionally trendy "Chiado" (literally, "squeak", the nickname of a 16th century poet) offers plenty of cafes, restaurants and bars where you can stop for a cafe or cocktail, after exploring its streets, shops, art galleries, theaters, museums and viewpoints. It's also the home to the statue of the famous statue of portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa, having is usual espresso at "A Brasileira" as he used to. You can also enjoy breathtaking views of Lisbon from the Elevador de Santa Justa or the Carmo Convent, for example. A commercial neighborhood at its core, especially for its Garrett and Carmo streets, Chiado is to this day a mandatory visit in Lisbon.
