This small hidden restaurant is fantastic. The staff are very friendly and the food mouth watering. The meat samosas are fantastic if you need and excuse to stop being vegetarian as they are addicting ( the sauce they come with is hot so be careful if you are not used to spicy food). I had coconut Rice and prawns in... More

Great curries for who appreciate. Good vegetarian and non-vegetarian selection. Seems like a nice local hangout. We enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. If you like Indian / African food then highly recommended!.

I walked past this place and I decided to get in and get some Mozambican food. The best decision I have made in a while. The food was absolutely fantastic and the people working there were very lovely and kind. I will visit again.

This was probably the best dinner meal that we every had, Samosa for Starters and Chicken and Lambs ribs and coconut rice for Mains. Fantastic Tasting Food. However there was a downside, it was raining so the outside tables were closed so we ended up with a crappy table just inside the door. I had to keep my coat as... More

Very attentive staff. Amazing food. Very different but great. We tried Frango and several other food. Were not disappointed, we were referred by a friend otherwise wouldnot have stopped. It is in a very small street and does not look appealing. However the atmosphere the live Mozambique music was worth it. Recommended.

A simple restaurant in a old and typical restaurant. Don't be scared by the simplicity of it, because the food is great and the attendees such a nice persons. Try the shrimp curry or the crab curry. The prices are 8/12 euros a dish

I knew Cantinho do Aziz since the very begining 30 years ago. It was a very nice family restaurant with great food from Goa and Mozambique. Aziz was spectacular and we went there several times for years. Today the food is very good, but they work mainly for tourists and this way of doing things tends to move away people... More

Our Airbnb host told us about this place, hidden in a little street near our apartment. We had never tried Mozambique cuisine so we checked it out - and boy are we glad we did! Not only was the food unique but the people were great. We had prawns macau and the lamb in dark coconut sauce, both were fantastic.... More

The restaurant is tucked down a side street, and is well worth finding! Menu featured good choice of meat, fish and vegetarian dishes from Goa and Mozambique. Helpful English speaking staff

Staying in Castelo, Alfama & Mouraria

Neighbourhood Profile
Castelo, Alfama & Mouraria
Explore narrow streets and alleyways, small cafes and, of course, the internationally acclaimed Fado music. The earth-shattering Great Earthquake of 1755 destroyed most of the city but the contiguous neighborhoods of Mouraria, Castelo and Alfama remained standing to this day. These neighborhoods represent Lisbon at its historical best. The cool breeze of the Tagus river will take you up the hills to the sound of Fado, where you'll discover the best "tascas," eat delicious fresh fish and drink great wines. Discover hidden viewpoints and ancient traces of other civilizational ruins in the heart of the Portuguese capital. These are centuries-old neighborhoods that will welcome you to the very best of old Lisbon culture.
