We arrived at the restaurant just as the sun was setting which made the whole setting uncrowded and relaxed. Fantastic views across the city from our window table and excellent service. We had a selection of starters which included Foie Gras and a fresh salad, olives and cheese. Mains were Pork loin and lamb chops. I thoroughly enjoyed the food... More

We were there with a group of 50 persons, the location is wonderful at the castle, a bity disappointed about the staff, had the feeling the staff wanted to get rid of us quickly. The food was acceptable but not the best food we had during our stay in Portugal.

This was a terrible experience from start to finish. The venue & view is beautiful. The waiters from the start were angry & flustered and arguing with one another. We sent a hamburger back 3 times for it to be cooked well done but even after the third attempt it was undercooked. Our friend did not eat lunch. This is... More

Unfortunately my experience here was terrible, I was mistreated and disrespected by the staff and would not recommend it to anyone. I arrived here with my wife and son and asked the waiter for a table, he briskly answered that I could choose any table outside except the one that was reserved. The patio was almost full, so out of... More

Pricey because of the location and view. Decent food, not as good as I was expecting, but still good.

A sunny February day, it was time to visit the Castelo de S. Jorge. After a delightful tour around the area, we decided to have lunch in the Casa do Leao. It was truly an exquisite choice. Excellent service, excellent environment and heavenly food. Especially the risotto. I still dream about it. Milan (Italy), you have a lot to learn... More

The Cafe in the winter is all indoors so it was rather crowded. The staff however was courteous and quick. You order cafeteria style , pick up your food and they bring the drinks to your table. We stopped in for a light snack and there were selections of pastries, sandwiches etc. The cappuccino was wonderful! The decor was plain... More

It is okay for a coffe and a cookie. We did not try the food dishes. The room is quite uninspiring and it is self service. The big advantage is the place - on the top of Lisbon.

Always amazes me that reviewers can have such diverse experiences. We stumbled on this place for lunch while touring the castle. Initially we were the only two people in the restaurant, a party of 4 came in a little later. The food was great. I had the sea bass (perfect) and my partner went for the meat dish (again, cooked... Staying in Castelo, Alfama & Mouraria

Neighbourhood Profile
Castelo, Alfama & Mouraria
Explore narrow streets and alleyways, small cafes and, of course, the internationally acclaimed Fado music. The earth-shattering Great Earthquake of 1755 destroyed most of the city but the contiguous neighborhoods of Mouraria, Castelo and Alfama remained standing to this day. These neighborhoods represent Lisbon at its historical best. The cool breeze of the Tagus river will take you up the hills to the sound of Fado, where you'll discover the best "tascas," eat delicious fresh fish and drink great wines. Discover hidden viewpoints and ancient traces of other civilizational ruins in the heart of the Portuguese capital. These are centuries-old neighborhoods that will welcome you to the very best of old Lisbon culture.
