We were looking forward to this meal and were prepared to pay for it. Service was precise but not over friendly. I started with tomato soup Madeira style- too much onion and in a cold bowl. Then for main meal, wife had bolognese - bland, and I had tagliatelle with tiger prawns (5) on a cold plate and not a... More

There was a nice atmosphere and the staff were welcoming and friendly. Good food and great wine recommended by our waiter. We went 2 nights running as we were so impressed. Complementary gaspachio was delicious too!

We started with the fish soup, which was really excellent! The garlic bread adding to the flavor. As a main we had the steamed sea bass with herbs, also really great. The wine was good as well. Why not 5 out of 5? Small things only; staff sometimes a little less polished, the atmosphere very OK, yet not perfect. Go... More

Good value, bearing in the mind the quality of the food. We went there on our second evening. Excellent scabbard fish and the second time wild boar patties, also very good.

A good madeiran restaurant that merited repeat visits. Fish and Meat tried were all satisfactory. The Chaplin silent movies are a bit distracting at times.

Had dinner here on one night during our recent visit to Funchal. The restaurant was not busy, only six people there but the staff were friendly. The menu is varied and the food was nice but we were charged extra for vegetables and there was a choice of steamed or boiled. Dessert was good and service was o.k. We found... More

We were quite impressed with this restaurant, thinking overall it was expensive, but probably worth it. We shared a mushroom starter, which was small (actually a good starter size, not often found) but very tasty, and then had rabbit and scabbard fish. The meals were well presented and cooked, although short on vegetables, despite the waiter telling us that both... More
