I wouldn't say its my favourite food. its like melted cheese with lots of meat and etc. it feels more like an experiment from a child. hahaha. however, you could try if you are spending a lot of time in Porto.

The Francesinha Santiago is absolutely amazing. The service not as much. It reminds me of a mid-West (USA) 1970's diner, yet Portuguese. Definitely a healthy mix of locals and tourists.

We wasn't mean to get in the this cage. We are going on at the back door, so don't know that this cafe has good tripadvisor *. They are very busy. We ordered chicken soup and cabbage soup. They are cold not hot at all. The special sandwich was not very nice and cost €9.50, they just put mixed meat... More

Good for trying a tasty "francesinha" - typical Oporto food. Too much people on fridays ans saturdays night. Too crowded.

Great place to eat a Francesinha. Very good and quick service. As the Francesinhas are huge a good option is only one Francesinha to 2 people, they charge more 1€ to serve already divided. A Caldo Verde or canja soap are a good complement.

This was our first meal in Porto. Although we were a bit reluctant to try this since it looks so heavy, greasy and fatty, me and my boyfriend were told by all of our Portuguese friends at work that we must try this. We were also recommended to try this restaurant in particular. We waited a little longer than what... More

We were recommended this cafe by friends who said that it was one of the best Francesinha spots in the city. Having never had another - comparison is a bit tricky but the mound of porky rashers/ meats/cured and otherwise welded into a club sandwich , held together with cheesy ramparts and left to swim in moat of slightly piquant... Me and my husband were told by citizens of the town of Porto that these Francesinha made at Cafe Santiago had won awards for the best Francesina in Porto. We went out and tried just that. The Top Francesinha with 5 different types of meat dived between slices of toast bread and topped with a fried egg and covered in... More
