I booked a table for my wife's birthday and although their was a little confusion with the booking it was sorted out.We had a lovely evening sat by a table overlooking the square.Service and food was perfect and they even gave us a complimentary glass of port and a small cake for her birthday. If you want a special, romantic, relaxing evening... More

Rather pretentious food; basic cooking skill is definitely there but the added fancy accompanying food clashes and ruins the centre piece of the dish e.g. Salmon tartare is far too sour and the pickled gherkins took over the salmon's taste while the fried cured ham is so tasty that it clashes and made the good taste of the beef steak... Thanks to searching on trip advisor we found this gem. Although we didn't have a booking we were lucky enough to secure a table. This is a small intimate restaurant with exceptional staff and food. On the first floor of an old building overlooking the square it has loads of atmosphere. But it's the food that is the stand out.... More

This is highly recommended, but first a few tips: -This is small and elegant with only 8 tables. If you are looking for a boisterous evening, look somewhere else. -The restaurant is located on the second floor, and you enter the ground floor from the street through a light blue door. The signage is on the balcony above the door... More

Excellent place to relax and eat the best food in Porto! I had the octopus, it was cooked to perfection. Also, the Sangeria hit the spot since we had been out on the beach all day.

Excellent food. I had the octopus and it was fantastic. The restaurant is small and accessed by a blue door that is almost unmarked off the square. You will go upstairs and find yourself in a dinning room with 10 tables. The place is small so make a reservation (my hostel did this for me). Order whatever you like and... More

Very happy i chose this resto...great ambience food wine and service. Salmon tartare fresh and zingy...octopus tender tho could have had a bit of char grilling to give hint of smokiness. Caramel fondant oozed like it should. 3 courses for 2 with bottle of wine and a 20 yr old tawny came out at about 79 quid..i make that good... More

Had dinner here in March 2017, after a long day in the valley. I found the atmosphere a bit stilted when we arrived, almost too formal. But it relaxed as the early diners left and a new crowd arrived. Food was excellent. Steak and octopus. Drinks were good too and the bread was awesome. It grew on me as the... More

We made a reservation beforehand for a birthday dinner. The friendly staff gave us a magic candle on our dessert sampler. Cozy hidden setting that's elegantly decorated. The food was excellent - we had the salmon tartar, octopus, and monkfish. Really a gem!

This was possibly the best food experience we had in Portugal. My wife had monk fish with black rice and rocket and I had duck lasagne. All exquisitely prepared and served by our attentive, friendly waiter. For dessert we had rasberry sorbet with a glass of 20 yr old port. (I actually ordered 10 yr old but they were out... More

Description
On the first floor of a historical site in Porto's downtown, recently opened a small quiet restaurant, called Camafeu. Go back to the times where you had a meal at your grandparent's place, where the decor was romantic but eclectic and where you can indulge yourself on mouth-watering but not-pretentious food.At dinner time, you are invited to stay for a late drink and enjoy, through the big windows, the scenery of the square bellow (Praca Carlos Alberto, named after our late King). We invite you to try the tender Sirloin steak or the Duck with figg jam, or the Prawn porridge among other fabulous appetizers and main-courses. Everybody will love our home-made desserts. Don't forget to ask for the famous Portuguese wine from the Douro region, either it's Port, White or Red.
