All dishes we ordered were extremely poor quality: dry, tasteless the kalamari had definitely been fried at least one time before

Busy courtyard restaurant. Staff actively chase customers and once seated provide erratic service. Menu choices aplenty at reasonable prices as well as drinks. Seagulls and pigeons are active and I saw 2 tables lose some of their food to birds. As is the European way,...vaping and smoking is rampant . The area is great for watching the passing parade. We went there twice and credit card was accepted the first time and cash only the second time. Meals were ok.More

As I write this review, Tripadvisor tells me that, mathematically, this is the fifth worst restaurant in Porto. What the heck are the other four doing? It is, frankly, hard for me to imagine a worse dining experience. Well, and to call it "dining" is...charitable. "Experience," I suppose. Start with the ambiance. This place gets points for paying rent to front the Douro. After that, the furniture is shaky, the bathrooms smelled like a city dump and the staff was arguing whether one toilet even worked or not (they decided, dubiously, it did). Said toilets were "Turkish" style, meaning no seat. But for the fresh air coming off the river, there would be no redeeming value in terms of ambiance. Well, even the ambiance varies depending on which busker is parked in front of the restaurant. We had a guy who could charitably be singing in a style that was Lawrence Welk does the early Beatles. His one digression was to try "Bella Ciao," which got him thoroughly chewed out by a pair of Italians. Which brings us to the service. Diffident, more interested in chatting with each other than getting your order or serving it (but, boy, were they interested in cashing you out when you finished!) And speaking of that, cash only. Who the heck takes cash only in this post-Covid world. As one reviewer suggested, the likely answer is money laundering. And when they were paying attention, it was to spill boiling hot oil on my son, barely missing parts one particularly doesn't want coming into contact with boiling oil. Finally, the food. You'd be better off joining the Italians chewing the busker. My son's sausage was overcooked and dry (but not so dry it couldn't give off hot oil!). I ordered pizza. My mistake, I admit. I had a craving. The sauce was too sweet, the bread doughy and undercooked. In Sicily or New York, this pizza would get you taken out and shot. The bottom line is they are the very bottom line on a list of Porto restaurants, a city with a great food culture. Go somewhere else -- ANYWHERE!-- to experience it...More

Well well well.... One word to describe... AVOID at all cost. Busy, yes I can deal with that but the staff are here only for the money.no customer service. The bar only take cash.. so actually how much is actually declared to the tax man....If you are hungry go elsewhere, the food look horrible and quite frankly I would not even give it to my dog. Also, €20 for a plate of dog food...More

A big thank you to Mary for being so helpful and kind. She dealt with a very unexpected incident with a seagull so calmly. So appreciated. Food is fine but service is exceptional. A big thank you to the outside host too for being so...thoughtful. Heads up, watch out for the flying bombers while you are eating outside!!!More

Despite being outside in the square, under umbrellas, with waiters hovering, ready to pounce, it was a good site to people watch, and the food was excellent. Get the Bacalhau (salted cod, done in the fryer) and drink the Super Bock lager, goes down like...nectar.More

I hate giving 1 star reviews but this place deserved even 0. Location was great and guy playing in the street makes a nice atmosphere and that was it from the positives. First drinks, my friends saw fanta pineapple in the menu and ordered it...but it turned out to be some local drink that tastes like a sweet water with artificial taste. We all ordered francesinha and the sauce was terrible, no sausage but cold hot-dog, beef was chewy... Staff was chaotic. We got different waiter for everything. One took order, one brought drinks, etc. To top it all, our dishes were coming oneby one with 5 mi utes between then, so either one starts eating while other watching or eating cold later on. Line for toilet was huge and it was a bit dirty.More

staff is terrible. They just walk like a zombies and forgot almost everything. Price/quality is just terrible. This would be okey as a bistro of third the price level it has. Only + is that you see the water and there is usually someone playing...live music. I do not recommend.More

The first two times we were here we evidently spent enough money for them to allow us to pay by card. The third time on a Sunday around noon, we were told they only accepted cash. This is a scam, as after we to.d them...we only had a card, and sat for about 20 mins, magically I was asked to leave the table and go to the counter and a card was acceptable. Sad commentary on this place with a great location, as we have had other places tell us cash only before we sat and ordered, which was no problem as we could go elsewhere.More

..we needed a bar and snack before getting on a river boat tour. This was the perfect location , and initially the staff were helpful to get tables put together for 8 of us at a busy lunchtime. We opted for 2 jugs of sangria...at EUR25 each ,and the waitress actually asked me if we preferred white and I said red , as we saw the table near us had glasses of red sangria…. plus we ordered some rissoles. The waitress arrived and promptly opened a bottle of pink sangria to put in one of the 2 jugs. I said we wanted red , she replied that they only served red in glasses even though there was a picture of a jug of red sangria on the menu. We decided to taste the first jug and it was nothing like we wanted. We stopped her from pouring the 2nd pink bottle into the next jug and asked her to change it to red. She said she’d have to ask the manager. We saw on the menu that they offered fruit flavoured sangria which we were sure that was she served first. If she had apologised and offered to change it then we wouldn’t have complained and given her the benefit of the doubt , but she was just surly. Anyway, she returned with a jug of red sangria… then 6 of the eight rissoles arrived and 15mins later 2 others arrived , one cold , the other tepid. We complained and she said she’d take the price of the cold one off…big deal..!! We then asked why there was a photo of a jug of red sangria on the menu when she refused to offer it… She didn’t respond and went to get the bill. Because this waitress was so dismissive we tried to speak to others waiters who sadly didn’t speak English. We then spotted a ‘manager’… he ignored us as he couldn’t converse in English either. So we know never to visit this place again and to warn people to avoid this place or if you do want a jug of red sangria make certain you point out the photo on the menu and stand your ground if they fail to deliver it…at EUR25 its not cheap.!! Better still move on to another bar as this one doesn’t respect it’s customers.More
