A quaint place up some steps . We ate here the 1st evening we arrived ( in a snow storm!) and it sure got us in the mood to enjoy Athens and all things Greek. It was not crowded (January) and we ate indoors. The menu had a good choice of Greek dishes and our waiter was helpful. The interior... More

Recommended by a local and we were not disappointed. A perfect location close to Acropolis. The food and wine were excellent as was the service. Prices very reasonable. Most tables were filled with locals. Live music and a dance floor.

We were walking around and stopped for taking a look at the menu. The restaurant personnel explained to us that they had live music after 8 PM and we decided to come back for dinner the same day. Everyone at the restaurant was extremely nice, helping us in deciding what to eat. The music was typical Greek and some of... More

As usual when we visit Athens, we go to Geros Tou Moria for drinks, meals and entertainment (not just the Greek show they put on, but people watching as well on the crowded steps). Stefanos again is THE BEST waiter - full of life and always extremely busy but finds time to stop and mingle every now and then. We... More

After a long walk, an old friend of invited me to the table, here in the oldest taverna in Plaka. The atmosphere was very pleasant, what a pity that at time when we were preparing to leave, there it was preparing to begin the program with Greek music! The food was excellent, the portions large, even too big. We eat... More

Visited with a group and had dinner. Great and friendly service. Good food. Rooftop has nice view of Acropolis. I had a good experience, but my friend had the pork soulaki and said it was not good.

Staying in Plaka

Neighbourhood Profile
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
