Contrary to previous reviews we had two excellent meals here and found the food delicious and staff very friendly, particularly Theodore who served us last night. The location is excellent for people watching, and is atmospheric at night. The menu had some options outside the usual Greek tourist fair, which was a welcome change.

We went to Eris café for lunch and were quickly shown to a table. The place was not accepting cards and we were informed upon seating that we could only pay in cash. We ordered a moussaka and a Greek salad along with a fresh juice and a local beer. The food was fresh and lovely. The service was quick... More

Food wasn't good. I ordered pork souvlaki and it was drenched in oregano and cayenne pepper, small portion of fries and a huge portion of red onion! Meat was all fatty, not edible. My sons burgers were not beef burgers as described, it was lamb or a mixture of mystery meat and covered in oregano and mustard all over. Club... More

#1 must have list: mousakka! It is delicious, I also had a kebab and it was very good too. Price is good and the location is perfect, with the acropolis right behind you, you can eat nicely accommodated in the outdoors. Staff could be a little friendlier.

Nice setting and ok staff but food is very average and expensive. Vegetarian options are very limited. To top it off we were given the bill and told we had to pay cash. They really should tell people this before as our bill came to nearly €100 which we didn't readily have on us. You're just paying for the location,... More

Being a local, I quite enjoy having a coffee or beverage at the outdoor area of this café because the view and the atmosphere is great day and night.

I have been there with my family (five people, all adults). The owner, when we enterd, has been quite kind and helpful, offering us the possibility of locating into another close restaurant also belonging to him. We finally decided to stay at Eris as more modern and nice looking. First of all music was so loud it was almost impossible... More

I ordered Eris's salad, it was full of bread. The mushroom risotto was good, musakka was tasty. But the service was very slow and she needed to smile once in a while.

Found this cafe after doing Acropolis. Food and service was ok. A little expensive for what you got but probably paying for the location. Would recommend

It was cold outside, so we went inside of Eris. The food was very good, although overpriced. The seating inside was very comforatble, which is unique for Plaka. However, the service was awful. The waitress relectantly waited on us and was impossible to find during the meal. Honey for the bread? Maybe. More hot water for tea, not for you.... More

Staying in Plaka

Neighbourhood Profile
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
