We went May of 2016. This restaurant is located about a 10 min walk south of the Acropolis. We ordered mussels, a meat dish (can't remember what it was), and 2 pasta dishes. Photos attached. Mussels were not bad. The meat dish i remember was good. The pasta dishes were not bad. One of the pastas was a little too... More

We ate here after visiting the Acropolis museum. What a gem! tough to find. Upstairs among homes a few blocks from the museum. We had the the Meatballs, Travihtes, Hilopites, orzo and best of all the Tsouhtes. Order a few different dishes and share. Each is prepared with care and very fresh ingredients. The setting is quaint and cozy. We... More

This little restaurant serves very thoughtful and creative dishes, but for a high price. The service was alright, but the waiter didn't come over when we gestured to them even though there is only one room in the whole restaurant. The price is pretty high, maybe 15-16 euros for a pasta dish.

We enjoyed our evening here however we felt very rushed by the waiting staff. Even though it was midweek and there were spare tables the service was a bit too efficient. They served our main course as soon as they had removed the starters and then immediately asked about desserts. If we had had a bit more time between courses... More

Location is great but the food is amazing. The tradizional Greek cuisine mixed in original way to create harmonic and innovative taste. Worth at mention at Pork belly and crumble apple pie. Could be opportunity a bit improuvement on staff attitude.

I spent a few days in Athens and I was extremely happy with how friendly everyone was. I heard good things about this place. Please note: I did not eat here, I entered the restaurant at 7:30 pm for dinner just by myself. Not one table was full and the guy did not even turn around to tell me restaurant... More

We hadn't booked but managed to get a table. Lovely menu choices, enjoyable evening. Belly pork was great as was the tenderloin, we managed starter and main course but no room left to accommodate a dessert! Compared with some other nearby restaurants this was leaning towards the pricey side. Attentive waiting staff without being obtrusive. Stairway may be a little... More

Chose this restaurant from Rick Steves book as it was also close to our hotel. Made a reservation which was a good idea, as they were completely full by 21:00. Nice bottle of wine to start, along with one of the best Greek salads we have had thus far. Salad came diced with four shredded phyllo logs wrapped around cheese.... More

Value for money just beyond the Acropolis. Tasty meze, good proportions, nice environment, polite staff, love to go again and again. I strongly recommend it as a choice around the Acropolis (and Plaka) area.

Staying in Thissio / Makriyanni

Neighbourhood Profile
Thissio / Makriyanni
Named after the well-preserved Thission (ancient temple of Hephaestus), Thissio is blessed with a small wooded park and some less frenetic streets that offer numerous quieter places to stay and eat. Largely pedestrianised Apostolou Pavlou Street runs between the Acropolis and forested Filopappou Hill, well worth climbing for more great panoramas, until it merges with Dionysiou Areopagitou Street. This leads to the up-and-coming area of Makriyanni, whose centrepiece is the magnificent new Acropolis Museum. Opposite the museum is the entrance to the southern slopes of the Acropolis, while the eponymous metro station nearby is at the top of Makriyanni Street, another strip of touristic cafés and restaurants.
