One of the best traditional tavern in chania. There are lots of different plates with good food! I really recommend it!

As you are strolling through the gorgeous historic streets of the old city centre of Chania in Crete, you walk into the Black Sheep tavern. The taste of the food was unbeatable, the sides as well as the mains. The tables were of course outside and the only downside was that it is on a very busy street - so... More

We arrived there after 1.30am and even though kitchen would be closed in a few mins, staff was very helpful and gave us a good overview of the menu. They started by offering some complementary tomato and myzithra (white soft cheese) sauces with olives, baked bread and dakos (local cretan bread). We tried couple of mezedes and they were all... My girlfriend and I went there "on the flow" with no expectation and from the first bites we were already convinced: it is one of the best food we had in Chania and I believe strongly it is also one of the best places to eat in Crete. The owner is kind and friendly, the food is fresh, local and... More

Great place for tasty traditional mezedes! Service is excellent and ambience is OK although sometimes it gets a bit noisy, since locals like to get loud while listening to live music. There is a great selection of plates, many of which, although traditional in nature and with local ingredients have a different touch and they all taste good at fairly... More

It a nice "meze" (small dishes) taverna mostly with young people. The dishes were nice and the prices more than reasonable. The best way to order is to speak with Panagiotis or Nikos and they give you detailed discription of every plate. If like to start a chat talk to Panagiotis about old classic motorbikes ;-)

We had twice dinner at this little tavern: inside the atmosphere is cosy and friendly, different than usual, but we sat outside, at the small tables, as it was mid July. Everything we tasted was amazing: Excellent 'marathopita" (the Cretan pie with some sort of green grass inside), the usual Cretan 'kaltsounia' were gorgeous, excellent 'ntakos' and the typical Cretan...
