This is a solid restaurant choice in Rethymno. We had a good meal. I'm writing this review a few days later and am not remembering really fantastic things, which is why I'm giving it 4 instead of 5 stars but we very much enjoyed our...More

I have to say that the restaurant is beautiful and the atmosphere is amazing, This place in the middle of the old town is a natural beauty! However, when it’s about the food and the service I can say it become a nightmare. The waitress...More

This restaurant was recommended to us by another couple staying at our hotel. We are so happy that we took their recommendation. The food was incredible; the tzatziki sauce was so refreshing, turns out they use some of the best Greek yogurt and much better...More

We went late in the evening so felt that the local clientele were prioritised. The food was fine apart from a Greek salad which was surprisingly disappointing. It’s a lovely setting, and I’d go again.

Very good food in a top atmosphere. The service was very nice too. A "must" in your visit to Rethymnon.

We visited Alana 12 months after our first visit just to see if high standards have been maintained! I can report that nothing has changed, the same staff, the same high standard of cooking married to great service! There has been one change. They have...More

We ended up spending our last three evenings in Rethymnon at this restaurant. Wonderful atmosphere, top notch service and food you could just die for! The dry-aged beef, mushroom risotto and sea-bass had world-class standards, and combined with a good wine recommended by the waiters,...More

We enjoyed two wonderful evenings eating at Alana. The ambience is perfect eating outside on a terrace with unobtrusive music. The service was welcoming and helpful and the food on both occasions excellent - be prepared for large portions especially the starters which I think...More

We went to this restaurant after a number of recommendations. We had sea bass and it was very good. However, the atmosphere of the restaurant is lacking. Instead of a single attentive waiters we were served in one way or another by 7 separate wait...More

Alana Fresh food straight from the market. Specializing in grilled meat and Cretan cuisineThe restaurant's name derives from the old times. Alana was a place that kids of all the neighbourhood used to join together and play. It was first established in 1986 at the heart of the old town of Rethymno in Salaminos street , the central street under the castle of Fortezza and used to be one of the first tavernas in the area. With 200 seats it was the most crowdy place of the old town. In 2002 under new management, the place transformed to a more relaxing restaurant with 100 seats based on good quality products, attendive service and reasonable prices. Alana made a new beginning, changing totally the style of the restaurant, serving unique dishes of traditional fare in a relaxing setting full of flowers creating the perfect backdrop for a dining experience highlighted by inspired cuisine and impeccable service. The restaurant has attracted both tourists and local people drawn to the superb food, charm and hospitality of its owners. The restaurant serves healthy Greek and Mediterranean cuisine, using products sourced locally, cooked with care and it has been established as one of the best restaurants in town, based on the customers’ reviews. The extensive a la carte menu includes favourites like lamb with artichokes, Cretan smoked pork “apaki” and stuffed vine leaves, chargrilled steaks and beef burgers, grilled vegetables with feta cheese and oregano, wild greens with tomato, garlic and potatoes. Unique home made deserts are also offered.
