Based on a vendor’s advice, we asked where he had lunch, we ate at Slingerbulten. Great food. There is a buffet salad bar and you order at the register, we ordered the pork, fish and Swedish meatballs. All were outstanding, the prices were inexpensive and the service was very good. The location is in old town in a very plain... More

Realy enjoyd the place and the food. Nothing fancy but typical homecooking Swedish type food for unbelievable price. Salad, main course, drink and coffee for 100Sek per person. The staff is friendly, there is no hurry and it looks likes time has stood still in this place.

This was a lovely restaurant in the heart of Gamla Stan (the Old City) with very local fish and of course Swedish meatballs. Not too expensive.

We were most impressed with our lunch at around 110 kronor each (incl. lovely bread and crispbreads, good salad, good coffee and a little biscuit): fried herrings with mash and lingonberries, and possibly the best fish soup I've tasted. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, cosy and unhurried. Wholeheartedly recommended!

We looked at TripAdvisor and all the good reviews and decided to book there. What a disappointment. I took mussels and fries, and the mussels had absolutely no taste, like they were cooked with steam, the mayonnaise was liquid and awful and fries cooked too many times with an old oil. My friend ordered the fish soup and again it... More

Went there with my parents during lunch hours. Paid 11$ per person for salat, main and coffee. We had meat balls and fish, the food was delicious and enough to get really full

I am always skeptical with places that are in touristy areas and claim to serve local traditional food. However this little cozy place surprised me very much with very good products at a more than reasonable price regarding its location (and that it is Stockholm). The moose had a very special flavor and the cured salmon (gravad lax) was absolutely... More

Me and my wife had lunch there and the meals were good. Considering the quality and the price, I recommend it.

Staying in Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen

Neighbourhood Profile
Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen
Gamla Stan is Stockholm’s historic old town and home to the Swedish Royal Palace. It’s the most central island of Stockholm and accompanied by the small island of Riddarholmen, mainly known for its famous Riddarholm Church. Gamla Stan tends to be a bit touristy at times but is definitely worth visiting: take a stroll past the well-preserved buildings and through the small (and also Sweden’s narrowest) alleys, which will make you feel like you’ve travelled back in time. This neighborhood offers a great combination of historical buildings and traditional Swedish restaurants.
