Stockholm is an expensive city so this place was a great find in Gamla Stan. We had a tasty creamy chicken dish with rice which came with complimentary water, bread and tea/coffee. Good value for money. There were some lovely cakes on offer but didn't get to try those.

Gorgeous cafe, lovely owner. Half the options are gluten free and made in a separate gluten free kitchen. Sanwhich, yoghurt and a coffee for 70 sek. I wish we'd found this beauty at the start of our trip!

We enjoyed a nice evening in this cosy restaurant. Staff was friendly and helpfull in "translating" menu and providing different options. We had a starter and main course. Two typical Swedish dishes. Both were really tasty, well prepared and nicely served. Bread and water are provided for free. I would recommend this restaurant, especially if you are looking for Swedish... More

Gamla Stan is the old part of Stockholm city where the Palace and all the old buildings dating back to 12th and 13th century still stand. We were touring this place and tried this place out for lunch. Great authentic food, served with near perfect service. All meals come with free coffee, tea and a basket of bread. Plenty of... More

This was our afternoon coffee and cake stop most days. Good in both respects with a lovely atmosphere and very friendly staff. Had soup and toast for lunch one day - excellent and you also get unlimited tea/coffee with your meal.

This restaurant looked warm and inviting on a cold night's wander around the cobbled streets of Gamla Stan. Tucked away in a quiet corner it provided a cosy retreat from the cold. Friendly, welcoming staff greeted us. The menu wasn't huge but since I was determined to try an authentic Swedish dish there was only one choice for me. Classic... More

Very cozy and nice little restaurant in Gamla stan! Friendly staff. I went here for breakfast and had a gluten free bread which was nice but maybe a bit too sweet for my taste. I went here again for meatballs and mashed potatoes which were really tasty. Recommended!

We were looking for a gluten free restaurant in the old town, and we found this gem. All the dishes were excellent, and they were able to prepare them gluten-free. Since they are the old town, it was a pleasant place to start a walk about the town.

Staying in Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen

Neighbourhood Profile
Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen
Gamla Stan is Stockholm’s historic old town and home to the Swedish Royal Palace. It’s the most central island of Stockholm and accompanied by the small island of Riddarholmen, mainly known for its famous Riddarholm Church. Gamla Stan tends to be a bit touristy at times but is definitely worth visiting: take a stroll past the well-preserved buildings and through the small (and also Sweden’s narrowest) alleys, which will make you feel like you’ve travelled back in time. This neighborhood offers a great combination of historical buildings and traditional Swedish restaurants.
