I came in Sunday morning to have a breakfast in the old town with a friend. We order two different cheese sandwiches with one fresh orange juice and tea with milk. The service was excellent , atmosphere was good and quite. Sandwiches one was very good the second was just nice. Orange juice was actually fresh not like other cafe... More

This café offers the perfect break in the old center of Stockholm. Very appealing from the outside, this place offers super fresh food made with quality ingredients for all meals of the day. Once you are in, it is hard to resist ordering everything. The quantities are generous and the atmosphere is so cosy, in the end it is hard... More

Was looking for restaurant in Old Town, Stockholm that opened for breakfast and had gluten-free options. What a FIND! We had the delicious salmon pudding (amazing!) - including a side salad and delicious slice of bread. We also got the signature tea - made with fresh mint, orange, lemon, grated ginger and honey. Delicious - highly recommend!

Great food, wonderful atmosphere and the people working there, they made you feel just like home!! For a tourist I would say a typical Swedish place with an international atmosphere.

We had some quiche and cakes and hot chocolate while visiting the old town of Stockholm. It is a very cosy small coffee with delicious food and beverages. The hot chocolates were served in big bowls, which really helped to get us warm on such a cold day in Stockholm.

When you're in Sweden, one of things that you really ought to try is a Swedish Cafe - which usually doubles as a bakery and coffee shop. Cafe Schweizer in Gamla Stan (Old Town Stockholm) is the best one I've been to. I had their apple strudel, a large mocha, and a mozzarella sandwich. All were delicious. Also, the service... More

A lovely cafe, its quality highlighted by it always being busy! Wonderful hot chocolate but even better cookies and gingerbread!

Cold and tired of walking, this was the ideal place to stop for a sit down. Not the cheapest and prices aren't obvious, but being next to the Royal palace in the heart of the old town tourist zone we weren't expecting a bargain... What we did find was a warm and cosy cafe, with nice decor and polite staff... More

My wife and I stopped in for lunch on New Year's Eve. The streets were busy with tourists taking advantage of a relatively mild day to stroll the streets. This cafe is quite compact and it was full to capacity. There is a great range of options at the counter where you line up to order and pay. I choose... More

Staying in Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen

Neighbourhood Profile
Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen
Gamla Stan is Stockholm’s historic old town and home to the Swedish Royal Palace. It’s the most central island of Stockholm and accompanied by the small island of Riddarholmen, mainly known for its famous Riddarholm Church. Gamla Stan tends to be a bit touristy at times but is definitely worth visiting: take a stroll past the well-preserved buildings and through the small (and also Sweden’s narrowest) alleys, which will make you feel like you’ve travelled back in time. This neighborhood offers a great combination of historical buildings and traditional Swedish restaurants.
