Nice food, but unfortunately we were charged 2€ per coat (that is 10% of the food) when going out and getting the coats back. Of course without knowing it in advance nor really having any other choice than to give the coats when coming in....More

I have a yen for old fashioned food from time to time. Food from when you didn't count the calories, just concentrated on enjoying the meal. If you are like-minded and happen to be in Helsinki, the Sea Horse is the place to eat. I...More

We loved this restaurant! The cabbage rolls and crispy fried Baltic herring were delicious. Neither the food nor the décor is particularly fancy, but the staff are welcoming and it has a comfortable atmosphere.

We were recommend this restaurant by our hotel and weren't disappointed. Traditional and cosy- it was a great opportunity to sample local food. Don't be put off by the fact that you HAVE to use the coat check which is charged at €2 and non...More

My chicken fillets were good but my companions' dishes were disappointing. Crispy fried herrings turned out to be sixteen(16) sardine-sized fish with a woolly texture. We went on the recommendation of a local couple who were regulars so perhaps we were unlucky. service cheerful and...More

Simple kitchen, with good value food and drink. No gastronomical surprises, not extravagant dishes, no drinks you haven't drunk before. Still worth a visit. A bang for the buck local establishment.

Great atmosphere, delicious food, fab service... a very lucky find. We had Beef Steak a la Seahorse and Baltic Fried Herring. Both portions huge. No space for dessert so we had cocktails to finish the meal instead! Would recommend and would definitely go back.

If you're after a relaxed, no frills hearty meal in Helsinki, this will really hit the spot. Great meatballs and potatoes, we enjoyed the weinerschnitzel as well. We were told at the hotel that it is a very old restaurant with a big local following...More

I am quite surprised that this place has been so many years as it is. Even Dizzy Gillespie has enjoyed the baltic herrings in this place and that was pritty long time ago. This a place where locals go and tourists find this attractive. My...More

Classic Finnish fare, pricey. Don't go for the cheapest item on the menu, try something that you have not had before if you are a Helsinki visitor. I liked the atmosphere, but it is not "nice" in a trivial sense of this word. The service...More
