We made reservations a day on advance and asked for a window seat. When we arrived at 9:00... (closes at 10) we were told they had one upstairs ready..we excitedly waited and then were told they didn't have one anymore. We looked upstairs and it...More

We were a party of four at a window table for dinner. The shellfish stew, haddock, trout, and warm chocolate cake were wonderful. The chef and staff work very hard and are excellent.

We had spent about a week in Iceland before visiting Hofnin. So far the food and service at other places had been disappointing to say the least. However, after finding Hofnin our trip had taken a lovely turn. Despite the chilly weather we decided to...More

Turned up without a booking to this busy restaurant but was seated promptly by the manager. Great view over the harbour. Had lamb two ways- chops and braised shoulder- both delicious. Service was excellent, would return. Expensive but not overtly so for Iceland.

Our group of six enjoyed our meals here as well as the atmosphere. Our friendly server, Bjork, introduced us to the birch liquor named Bjork. After that, we had this drink at several other places on our trip.

Loved this place. The location, the food and service were all top notch. The owner came over to talk to us, told us the history of the restaurant and walked the baby around so we could enjoy our dinner. Certainly the added touch!

Excellent seafood dinner in a cozy restaurant at the harbour side. Beautiful view from the first floor. One of the best seafood soups I ever had. And the catch of the day, cod with vegetables was delicious, presented very pleasant on the plate.

This is an excellent restaurant to choose when you go to Reykjavík. It has very authentic Icelandic food. It is located down by where you would purchase the tickets to go whale watching. One of the appetizers we selected was reindeer state. The restaurant has...More
