In general, Icelandic hotdogs are great - I had never known how much difference fried onions & various sauces make to the taste of hotdog. With this particular hotdog stand... the hotdog is good but not great. It is probably more of just my personal taste (I didn't like the flavor of lamb in the hotdog that much) so you... More

We stopped off here after doing the golden circle tour. Feeling peckish after our trip the hotdog stand was perfect. We had our hotdogs outside in the cold embracing the Icelandic weather before we took a 15 minute walk back to our hotel. So lovely

This place was fast, probably the best hotdog sausage we ate. Great to see the other tourists go crazy when they find the place and take lots of photos of themselves. There is what looks to be an interesting board of what makes the place famous but unfortunately it's in Icelandic...

Good little snack bar if you want to grab something quick and a bit cheaper. I don't get all the hype but nice enough hot dogs

Tvær mèđ öllu nema sennepi takk!! It's easy to walk past this hot dog wagon and ignore it, but you shouldn't! Trust the locals who know these are literally the BEST hot dogs in Reykjavik. They come with raw & cooked onion, ketchup, mustard and remoulađi - mèđ öllu!!

You will understand why this place is so popular once you've been! I had read TA reviews beforehand so knew to order all the toppings and I am SO glad I did! Crispy onions were perfect, and the combination of the two sauces just works! Definitely have them all! Great for a cheap snack in Reykjavik at only 450kr. I... More

This was recommended thus by three different guides and some other tourists and initial thoughts before trying "seriously it's a hot dog." Only when we visited on passing that we realised and now believe the hype. 450Kr for a hot dog with all the trimmings, cooked apparently in beer and endorsed by Bill Clinton (not bother about last part but... Baejarins beztu pylsur (English: The best hot dog in town) often shortened to simply "Baejarins beztu", is a popular hot dog stand in central Reykjavik, Iceland. In August 2006, the British newspaper The Guardian selected Baejarins beztu as the best hot dog stand in Europe.

The majority of Icelanders have eaten at Baejarins beztu. It's downtown near the harbor and has been open since 1937. Foreign visitors are often brought to the stand to introduce them to the hot dogs there, which are often called "the Icelandic national food." Among famous people who have eaten at Baejarins beztu are Bill Clinton, former president of the United States, and James Hetfield, vocalist of the popular heavy metal band Metallica.

A hot dog condiments include ketchup, sweet mustard, fried onion, raw onion and remoladi, a mayonnaise-based sauce with sweet relish. Hot dogs are often ordered with "the works," i.E., All condiments, or in Icelandic "eina med ollu".
