The rye bread with smoked trout was unreal. I would also recommend the Icelandic pancake with caramel on top! The homemade rye bread ice cream was also very cultural and tasted delicious l. We wished we had time for an extra stop.

This place will specialize in old Icelandic recipes. We really enjoyed the lamb soup, and the Ryebread made from scratch. Their pride bread ice cream is a must, no doubt. I also ordered the herring sampler plate, I recommend it only for those who like pickled herring. Staff are friendly and helpful, especially if you want to try some of... More

Got off the red eye flight from US at 630 am on a rainy February. Our Air BNB flat was not ready until 11, so we schlepped our luggage to Cafe Loki. The meat soup (comprised of lamb) was tasty and hot, the lamb pate on bread was fantastic, and my wife enjoyed her vegetarian plate. Do yourself a favor... More

Dined as a middle aged couple feb 2017, both ate icelandic meals and were both impressed. Reasonable value and good service. Don't be scared of the fish or the sheep head jelly :)

Authentic Icelandic food here. Staff were very friendly and helpful, and the food was delicious although a little pricey. Particularly enjoyed the herring and meat soup!

We heard great things about this place and it is right across the street from the big church so we thought we would give it a try. The coffee was ok but we cannot tell you about the food. After waiting 30 minutes or so and anxious to get on with our day, we inquired to see how much longer... More

Out walking with the kids in the evening, we decided we would take a chance and call in to ask for take-away rye bread ice-cream. Well we couldn't resist, having read the reviews! Really kindly and despite being busy with dinner orders, the staff obliged. So glad we did. Seriously yummy ice-cream. Hard to describe but a bit like soft... More

We visited twice during our stay in Reykjavik- once in a Food Tasting Walking Tour where we sampled ryebread ice cream- yummy! Then again to enjoy the lamb stew with lamb pate/smoked lamb. Setting opposite the cathedral- perfect- go upstairs to enjoy the best view. Food reasonably priced for Iceland and the menu is varied. Worth visiting.

Visited for lunch after trip to Hallgrimskirkja church, my wife had lamb pate on rye bread which was very enjoyable I had mixed platter of very traditional Icelandic food. If visiting I would recommend the cafe if not all the local delicacies!

This restaurant is right across from the famous church so very easy to find. The food here was unbelievable! If you want an authentic Icelandic meal, you must go here. The homemade rye bread and flat bread was to die for! Don't miss trying out the these traditional foods. My boyfriend got the Loki Plate, which was a taster plate... More
