We found this delightful vegetarian cafe by chance as we spent a morning wandering around near Reykjavik waterfront. Very cute inside with a spiritualist theme and delicious hot drinks (creamy, strong hot chocolate, peppermint tea with loose leaves/strainer, cappuccino etc) but the real winner were the delicious veggie & gluten free cakes - totally yummy. Friendly service if a little... More

My sister and I happened upon this wonderful tiny restaurant on our first day in Iceland. Choice was limited to one soup and one main so we decided to order one of each and share. Everything had great depth of flavour, was hearty and completely satisfying. Simple cheerful decor - perfect lunch stop! The cakes looked amazing although we were... More

Locally owned. Excellent vegetarian soup. I had cabbage soup and it was served with fresh bread. Great value too.

We enjoyed a hearty carrot and spinach soup served with two small slices of bread and either a small container of hummus or butter. This was the special soup of the day and it seems they change daily with a special and special soup option each day. It is Iceland, so two bowls of soup set us back 2,500 Krona... More

This place has amazing food, they offer two chooses either the meal or soup of the day or both. Their desert is also very good.

This was one of my favorite meals in Iceland. There is nothing better after a cold blustery walk, than to step into this sweet and serene cafe.A bowl of the delicious homemade soup and a slice of hearty bread is a PERFECT meal. I've never had better soup!

I'm not sure that the Cafe Gardurinn is actually the same place as the Bjor Gardurinn in the Fosshotel that I went to with a group of three friends, and if it is not, I apologize because I don't mean to mislead. we ate the Bjor Gardurinn as a last resort because the Fosshotel restaurant was fully booked, and another... This was a nice experience. The meal of the day was delicious. I had the choice to get the small or bigger portion, so it was for the desserts. I found the smaller desserts size were actually a bit too small, it was pricy for the bigher sizes but I guess it's Reykjavik style, Iceland is just too expensive, be... More

The rain was coming at us sideways, and we had to hang on to each other through the gusts of wind so as not to be lifted off our feet. I'm not exaggerating. But still, we walked from the Laugardalur pool, talking about how wonderful a good bowl of soup would be. We found it at Cafe Gardurinn. Borscht, served... More

I have been to this cafe on every visit I've made to Iceland. Yes, the food is great - and you can see all the reviews here for proof. BUT they have this fuzzy, coconut-y cake with an icelandic name that's unlike ANYTHING I have ever eaten. It's not particularly sweet, or gooey or chocolatey ... but whatever they put... More
