Excellent dinner. Expensive as expected in Iceland, but not the most expensive we experienced. Service is casual but friendly, again typical of what we've seen in Reykjavik.

I stumbled on this bar one evening when I was looking for a drink that I could afford and a bit of quiet. Loved the bar and quiet atmosphere. My beer here was delicious and far better priced than other places. Everything is expensive in Reykjavik but the draft beer here was as good as I could find. I did... More

For our last night we wanted a tasting menu that would allow us to experience a cross section of Icelandic flavours. Forrettabarinn filled this perfectly. A rather quirky place that caters to both locals and tourists (always a good sign). We had great wait staff who were very informative and interesting. Each of us ordered one of the 4 course... More

In my opinion, Forrettabarinn is one of the city´s most honest restaurant. Having been there now 6 times for dinner over the last two years or so, the place is still growing on me. I have probably tried most of their dishes, both fish and meat and never been disappointed - quite the opposite. Prices are quite fair based on... More

I had met a local that suggested this place to me, I recommend it to you. First off as an appetizer, I had lobster soup/bisque. slightly spicier than what I had found previously. Net, I had lamb, seared but more of a carpaccio when I sliced it thin. They had a couple sauces that added to the experience. I probably... More

Our last night in Iceland we wanted to treat ourselves to a nice Icelandic meal. This restaurant didn't disappoint. They have several 4 course taster menus to choose from. A selection of small but very adequate plates. Each dish was delicious and cooked to perfection. The fish and lamb dishes were exquisite. It is located near the harbour a little... More

Cosy, casual atmosphere and great food. Small plates offer the opportunity to try a variety of dishes without stuffing oneself. Lots of different and interesting flavors in every dish. Between the three of us, we were able to try about seven plates, all very good.

Quick service, friendly waiters and gustative meals. Add a cosy look with some rock music in the background and you have the perfect place to have a meal in Reykjavik.

On our last night in Iceland, we looked for a place for inexpensive drinks and snacks, and in Reykjavik, that means Happy Hour! Forettabarinn is unassuming from the outside and on a busy road, but a cozy welcoming place inside- We ordered big Kaldi beers on recommendation from the bartender- a very good beer at a Happy Hour price! We... More
