For authentic Icelandic cuisine in Reykjavic in a no fuss down to earth local restaurant, look no further than 3 Frakkar. The Hashed Fish was absolutely delicious.

Lovely setting, good hearty foood, especially the catfish & the whale. Good service. If you are looking for the taste of Iceland, look no further.

Whale, shark and puffin? Do you think eating flesh of a once pregnant whale is the right thing to do. The oceans are being depleted of their magnificence. Sharks get a raw deal too. And as for beautiful puffins! People don't boast about eating them, it is nothing to be proud of. They are slaughtering the innocent who have every... More

Was given the impression that this would be an expensive fine dining kind of a place but instead it was (indeed expensive but) more just like a small mom and pop-ish kinda restaurant. I especially came here to sample the very interesting appetizers of fin whale sashimi and smoked puffin. Considering that I was only here for appetizers and not... More

I found out about this place when Googling for restaurants that served traditional Icelandic dishes. I probably wouldn't have found it simply by walking past, as it's not located on a major thoroughfare (although Reykjavik being a fairly small city, it's only about a five-minute walk from the centre). I'm really glad I found this place, as the food is... More

We had a large group of about 13 people, including 6 kids under 10. One of our group picked this place and contacted the restaurant to get a reservation for our group. We had a wonderful time and wonderful food. The kids had fish and chips, and even my 2 year old gobbled it up! I had the Fish Soup... More

Their cod cheeks... Fried and gratin with tasty sauces. Add glass of wine, you will need it. Simply one of the best meals in your life! :)

After Fishmarket, this restaurant tops my list of restaurants in Reykjavik (and it is cheaper too). The seafood is delicious and the restaurant gets the right balance of experimental tastes with traditional flavours. Would definitely go again.

I think we came to this restaurant, like most people, because of their reputation. We heard that it was good, traditional Icelandic food, with an emphasis on trying some of the weird stuff that you hear about people eating in Iceland: whale, puffin, horse and the like. Here's the problem: there is no way to try everything without committing to... More

Great authentic Icelandic dinner. Whale, salmon and seafood soup. Great service. Everything was cooked to perfection. Definitely a do again.
