Wow. We found the restaurant by chance . And what a chance that was.. it was downstairs and quite claustrophobic but it had a fantastic atmosphere. We had the icelandic gourmet feast . We wanted something different and this fitted the bill perfectly. We added a couple of extras kangaroo and scallops in bacon .. every one was delicious. Cooked... More

We had a great time here! Buzzing atmosphere and great service - our waitress was very helpful. We opted to choose our own tapas rather than a set meal and every dish was lovely. Definitely recommend the lobster tails! Ended up spending a small fortune but that seems to be usual in Iceland. The food was worth it though!!

If you want a taste of Iceland in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere then this is the perfect venue. The food was well cooked and well presented without being pretentious. I'm not likely to eat puffin anywhere else but I enjoyed it here. There are plenty of more conventional options if you don't want to eat like an Icelander but... More

This place was wonderful! Some people on a tour we did raved about this place so we decided we needed to not just eat the delicious hot dogs for every meal and venture into some real Icelandic cuisine. My friend and I shared the Icelandic Gourmet Feast. You start with a shot of Iceland's infamous alcohol, Brennivín (It is also... More

As soon as you are in the restaurant you wont believe you are in Iceland - crowded and spanish-family atmosphere, which is quiet loud for a restaurant :-) Tasty food, good service, at the upper limit if we talk about the prices.

The understated and hidden entrance of this place gives way to very cool vibe, buzzing ambiance and good music as soon as one gets inside. We loved everything we tried here! The seafood, chicken, etc. It stands true to its name and serves amazing tapas indeed! Great sangria as well. The staff were friendly and cool too. Loved it :)... More

My mom & I ate here on our last night, as we wanted to taste puffin and other Icelandic food. We shared the puffin, lamb with creamy liquorice gravy ( licorice is a popular flavour there- especially in chocolate), foal and a couple of other dishes. Portions were generous. The food was good, but in my opinion not as great... More

We were recommended this place by a friend as somewhere to try a bit of everything, and it did not disappoint! The food is incredible, the tastes and presentation is second to none - whale, puffin, foal, octopus, lobster you name it - we loved it! From the outside it's set back and hidden away but once you go down... More

We wanted to sample some Icelandic food and came here after reading reviews. It was "expensive" but let's be honest, eating out in Iceland IS generally pricey. So if you were like us, backpacking/travelling on a budget and looking for just that one special place to splurge on, Tapas Barinn is the perfect place. We shared the 7-course Icelandic Gourmet...
