The restaurant entrance is not impressive however, inside it is really nice and well maintained. Service is really average. Food is really poor, we ordered as starter the fried calamari, which was overcooked and dry and carpaccio bresaola, which was very good. As a main course, since it is an italian restaurant, we ordered a gnocchi with Gorgonzola and pistachio,... More

This is an interesting restaurant, adjacent to (and seemingly in partnership with) a historic Maltese townhouse, the Casa Rocca Piccola, that is itself well worth a visit -- in fact, there is a glass panel in the floor of the restaurant through which one can look down into part of the extensive WW2 air raid shelters of the adjacent house.... We were here on Easter Sunday and what an excellent experience. This restaurant is in part of a historical palazzo in Valletta. Best Sicilian cuisuine at it s best. La Giara is a restaurant I recommend blindly for those who like authentic, genuine Sicilian meals.

The staff is friendly. Slightly off the beaten track but for sure it is worth going down some extra steps. Food is good and fresh.

We had a peppered steak which was fabulous. Puds were nice too. We also enjoyed a Sicilian wine. The service was efficient and friendly. This low ceilinged ancient building with a panel where you can see beneath the floor is enchanting. This restaurant is slightly beyond the beaten track and so they are genuinely pleased to see you. The night... More

What an unexpected find at the very end of Republic Street! Italian food at its finest in a romantic setting and a delightful service to complement it all.

We were recommended this place by Maltese relatives as the ambience and food were said to be good. It did not disappoint, the food was excellent, especially the fish. We also had the spaghetti vongole and everything was fresh and authentic. A nice place to go for a special meal. Prices were fairly reasonable.

The place is small and cosy. The food is good and the staff is friendly. The pasta is fresh and cooked well. An ideal place for the family. Slightly off the city center but still ideally positioned to be well connected. Worth going down a couple of steps to reach this place. Then you also get to see the back... More
