What a lovely small Tudor pub (I think it's Tudor) perfect for a lunch air evening meal. On just a drink in the Gdn. The food is superb, approx £11-16.00 for a main meal, but worth it. Certainly will be back

We booked a table for lunch. The pub was busy and turning away customers who had not booked so I would say book or risk being disappointed! The menu was varied the service efficient and helpful especially as we wanted to make alterations to the menu as set out,; these were easily accommodated. We all were very pleased with our meals... More

Came here with a few friends and our dogs, this place welcomes dogs happily which is great! The pub has low ceilings due to being built in the 1400's but it makes it cosy and warm especially with the log burning fire (just watch your head in the toilets! Ha ha) Bar girls are polite and knowledgeable, good selection of... More

Well we visited the Ashdown Forest, place would have been great for walks with the dog but it tipped it down. So, we needed a place to go for a meal and were recommended The hatch. It was great, a warm welcome, glad we booked ahead plus an open fire and our Dog was welcomed. Food was excellent, staff were... More

The Ashdown Forestis a delightful area for walking and this cosy country pub fits just right. Good food and beer, friendly public an and staff, good home cooked food, and good beer. Cosy fire on a winters day.

Our first night out alone since having a baby.... Having just moved to the area we accidentally found this little hidden country gem & decided to try it when we had a babysitter. It's really quaint, cozy, romantic feel to it. The food was absolutely amazing... Starter to share, 2 steak mains, dessert to share, a lot of drinks.... Didn't... More

My sister and I was staying at a nearby hotel. After 2 nights of the same menu we decided to venture out for dinner and we were so pleased we did. We actually visited the pub at lunchtime to give it the once over and was met with a delightful welcome by the Manager and his staff. We managed to... More

A 15th century pub with excellent food and good beer & wine. You need to book which tells you all. The garden looks over the Ashdown Forest
