Slightly off the main route through Platres, but worth finding. Friendly staff, great houmous, and hallouimi. Fantastic views from the balcony. Parking right out front.

My wife and I visited Platres intending to stay at the Semiramis Hotel for just one night but enjoyed it so much that we stayed for three. We only intended to eat at the Village Restaurant, owned and run by the owner of the Semiramis, the once but it proved to be so good, the food so excellently cooked and... More

We visited this restaurant on a Monday in January and were the only people there. This did not stop the owner and his lovely assistant welcoming us to this mountainside restaurant. A starter of tzatziki etc., with village salad, then homemade moussaka and chicken souvlaki. Thank you for helping us and thank you to the guy from the Tourist office... More

We happened to come across this delightful taverna on our way down from the Troodos Mountains as we were looking for a place to have lunch.Tried all local dishes such as a big plate of ravioli, french fries, pitta bread with the dips of tzatziki, and sour cream, moussaka, big bowl of mixed salad, plate of courgettes mixed with eggs, stuffed vine leaves with minced meat. All these... No words can describe the happy feeling we left with after our visit at the Village Tavern.... On our road back from the Troodos mountains we were looking for a gas station and coffee. Luckily we stumbled upon this tavern, which is exactly the local food experience you need while visiting Cyprus. So at 11 am we found ourselves trying... More

The food was ok, not great but good enough. The owner looked like a good guy and we all were quite pleased. However everything changed when we asked for the bill and one of us asked for a receipt. Just to clarify we did not asked for the receipt because the price was too much. The price was just fine.... More

I get really frustrated when I see unfair and unkind reviews. I have spent 11 days half board at the Semiramis hotel which is also owned by the same person and I kind see for the life off me what that was all about. For starters there is no microwave at the restaurant as one seems to suggest. The other... More

We were extremely dissapointed!!! We got the food very fast but it was awful, from microvawe oven, impossible to eat! Musakka and Kleftiko were too salty and not fresh!! Kleftico consisted of many small pieces, seems like they were from different other plates which were left by other customers. We left hungry because could not eat this food...

Lunch here - a disappointing and over-salted moussaka and tomato salad (which was very good) cost almost as much as dinner the night before in the much better Skylight restaurant.

Unfortunately it's not a good experience to visit this place. The only good was the polite blond waitress, Anna I think was her name. As a person which is living in Cyprus I can say 100 % that the food is not the best quality at all. My partner had a Stifado which wasn't a traditional - some kind of... More

“The Village Restaurant” in Platres belongs to Agi Jacovides, the owner of Semiramis Hotel.
I was amazed with the delicious cuisine of Agi and he was telling me that he is cooking everything by himself only. Nobody else helps in the kitchen. He is very passionate with his cooking which he learned from his Mother he said.

One can find mostly Traditional Cypriot cuisine here and from what I found out from the little chat I had with other people, everyone likes it here. Prices are affordable and portions quite big.
From what I have seen the Restaurant is very popular both with Cypriots who come to Platres by coaches and the restaurant is full each day, but also it is popular with tourists who come to Platres and enjoy his Cypriot cuisine.

Mousaka costs 10 euro, Kalamari (squid) 8.50, Steak port chop 7.50, Koupepia –stuffed vine leaves 9 euro. A beer will cost you 2.50 euro and a carafe of wine 75ml costs 7.50 euro.
I found the prices reasonable, and because everything used here is freshly cut I can strongly recommend it. Agi will do his best to have his customers happy.
The view from the Restaurant is panoramic, but the inside décor is also great.
