I've seen some of the less-than-flattering reviews of Zum Mohren, but this was not our experience at all. Perhaps because it was an early Sunday dinner on a very snowy day, but our experience of both the food and service was wonderful. My wife ordered pumpkin cream soup and fried chicken livers, while I ordered goulash soup and had the... More

Came to this place quite by accident, but some accidents are good :) The food was great, both taste-wise and price-wise. Plus then I got to read a little bit about the history of this place- that it used to be one of the favorites of Wolfgang Mozart and Franz Schubert. The ambiance will integrate you to Salzburg - musical.... More

We went into Zum Mohren because everywhere else was busy, food and service were ok. The biggest issue is the price of wine... 33euros for a bottle that costs 8.90euros in the supermarket up the road.

My friends and I were in Salzburg for a short trip, and we came across Zum Mohren while walking through one of the alleys. The restaurant has a good location and serves edible food at reasonable prices. However, service was atrocious. We were greeted by a female waitress who I think is the wife of the manager (it seemed to... More

After a visit to the Christmas Market, we decided to have a Pizza. Zum Mohren was on our way back so we decided to eat there. It was a busy time so it took a little while to find a table and then get served. The pizza when it arrived was excellent. Well cooked and tasty. The only reason I... More

I'm always astonished by the mixed reviews a restaurant can get. Our experience was tasty food (turkey escallop) and excellent service. It's a perfectly good place for a quick lunch on a cold day. It's not like you have to agonise over whether to have your wedding reception here.

The location is probably the best thing you'll get here. Unfortunately there are so many dishes and cuisines to choose from, that it lacks it's own identity. You can get Austrian, Italian, Indian and some other dish. The garlic soup was ok, but they could have put something more than just garlic and onion in it. And the tomato soup... More

It's in the tourist area, it's underground, its quaint. If you like Strauss music on continual loop and fake paintings on the wall. My issue was the food which was dreadful and expensive. Bearing in mind Austrian food is not one of the worlds best cuisines, I choose the schnitzel. It wasn't supposed to come with frites but instead it... More

This place is a fascinating hotch-potch of artifacts in a historic building which incorporates part of Salzburg's original city wall. The food is excellent, service friendly and efficient, and prices are reasonable. The cloakrooms overlook the Salzach. Definitely recommended.

We chose this place on a night that we were having trouble deciding where to eat. There were three of us in our group and each wanted something different. Zum Mohren offered a varied menu. The food was good. Very reasonably priced. The server was very personable and friendly. The only negative is that there is no outdoor eating space.... More
