After walking for almost two hours around Vienna with my guide, I decided to have lunch near St. Stephens Cathedral. So, I came across Cafe de l'Europe. Quite crowded but I managed to get a table for two. I ordered the Fillet Steak 250gr. It took quite a while to be prepared as the restaurant was quite full. But it... More

Go upstairs and get a seat by the window. The food and service is excellent and good value. The pasta dishes and the club. Sandwiches are a nice lunch. It is a smoke free restaurant upstairs. Downstairs is all smoking so you need to rush past and go upstairs. Then sit and enjoy

This cafe was a great place to stop and have lunch. They have a covered outdoor seating area with heaters so even on a chilly March day we were warm. The food was very nice and not overly expensive given the location. If you do visit here, the ice cream is a must have. We had a Nutella spaghetti ice... More

if you go upstairs for dinner you can have a nice table next to the window just in front of the main square, nice view. The food is ok, we had a traditional Wiener-schnitzel and the goulash + a bottle of Chianti not expensive. Reasonable price and nice service, really polite. WE had a really late dinner!

To access the first floor you go through ground floor which is a smoking area. There is no chance to escape cigarettes smell in this café.

Nice cafe with good coffee. Only stopped briefly for a quick rest and refreshment along with about 500 other people! Food looked lovely. Staff were friendly, toilets were very clean. As someone else mentioned downstairs is for smoking and you have to walk through the fog to go upstairs. I found it smokey and unpleasant and I'm an ex-smoker.

The cafe is located near Stefanplatz. It was a nice afternoon cafe. The only problem is that to enter the cafe in winter you have to cross the first floor, smoking floor.

The cafeteria is centrally located and the coffee and cakes are good. The place is busy and crowded and the ground floor is designated for smokers, something which we were not aware of. They do not offer gluten and lactose free options.

Staying in Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the centre. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
