did ,by accident, drop in and were offered a nice table. (was a bit late so i guess booking would be advisable in peak times) the service was quick and friendly. the food was very good. only minus is the fact that they have a smoker and non smoker area separated by an automated door and any time the waiter... Well, I was a bit surprised when my son suggested to go to Pancho and called it the best Mexican restaurant in town. Because I read all the many negative reviews on tripadvisor. But what a positive surprise! We had no reservation and the staff still managed to get us a table, food was excellent, prices are reasonable, cocktails are... More

They managed to squeeze us in with no reservation and we're all really nice and helpful. The food was good and not too pricey.

The food doesn't taste like Mexican, actually it has almost no taste at all and the portions are really small! It's a little expensive for the kind of food they are serving. Though the waitress was really kind.

Nice food. good drinks, nice music. BUT: At 9 pm (!!!) the kitchen closes. You can't even order some cold snacks or sweets. That's unbelievable.

I went there with a friend on weeday evening around 7pm and it was not too difficult to get a table, but the Restaurant got rather full in the end. A resveration in advance would be maybe not a bad idea. The waiters were not very fast and especially it took very look till we could order our dishes. The... More

It was recommended to me as a good restaurant... Well, the food was average at best ( chips and dips, mexican salad, grilled salmon which was actually baked, not grilled, and too dry anyway), it took 2 hours (two hours!) to serve food to our group of 14, and the entourage reminded me of cheap bars in the communist era,... As we've been to Vienna many times and used to live in California, USA I looked for Mexican Restaurant for a change. Found Pancho and had an excellent meal. Provides a smoking and non-smoking section, has a great menu with quick service and very tasty food. I will return. Just opposite Taborstrasse Ubahn station.

I have been there to see the Champions League final at Summerstage. The food was nothing special ( tacos de pollo) and I had three beers. The bad surprise came when I wanted to pay: we had separate bills and mine was 29 euro . Since it seemed to be higher era then expected I have told the waiter (... More

Staying in Leopoldstadt

Neighbourhood Profile
Welcome to one of Vienna’s trendiest quarters. The second district has witnessed a turbulent ride, from medieval swamp to vibrant Jewish quarter, from pleasure ground for the noble and humble to current hip residence and workplace of Vienna’s creative crowd. Cross the Danube Canal from the city centre and take in life on Taborstrasse with its mix of old townhouses, churches, theatres, discount shops and ethnic restaurants. Head for Augarten via Karmelitermarkt, Leopoldstadt’s trendy marketplace. Baroque Augarten itself hosts a bizarre mix of manicured hedges and flowerbeds in front of a colossal World War II defense tower, the publicly accessible 300-year-old Augarten porcelain manufactory, the palatial boarding school and funky concert hall of the Vienna Boys Choir, and the modern art museum TBA21. At its opposite corner, The Prater not only houses the Giant Ferris Wheel but blends a bustling amusement park with lush woodland, perfect for a bike tour. Further east is the old derby racing ground of Krieau.
