First of all - never go alone to an authentic asian restaurant. It is an excellent place for sharing diverse delicious meals within friends or family of any kind ;-) so that you can taste a big variety of dishes. Whatever I had so far in my many visits was surprisingly good - and a relief in respect to the... More

Another master chef of the sichuan cuisine here in Vienna. They have a very glossy menu, must have cost a fortune to layout and print, with nice photos of the staff, all family. Unfortunately the women at the front seem to rarely smile in real life, and just answering a simple question about the food seemed to be too much... More

A bit expensive but surprising. You realize this is not an average chinese food restaurant. We tried soup, duck and pig (pig cooked two times was quite fatty but good if you like that). The menu is huge aswell

I went there because my favourite hotpot place in vienna was closed due to remodeling and Meister Xiao is one of the few places to serve hot pot. The soup was delicious, real spicy and the variety of ingedients for hot pot was wide, BUT: 1) they served corned beef (DOSENFLEISCH) as ingedient for the hot pot! this is a... More

Meister Xiao is a neighbourhood Chinese in a leafy Viennese suburb near Tuerkenschanz Park, an area, which is not blessed with restaurants. It serves simple and spicy food from Szechuan. It does stand out among the many Chinese restaurants in Vienna, but only because most of the others offer substandard fare. Have known this place for many years and came... More

Went here once for lunch or dinner and I must say that it was the best Chinese dish I've ever had here in Vienna. I ordered something with beef and rice and it tasted so fresh. And the restaurant looked clean and had a peaceful atmosphere as well.

I live 100 yards away and travelled widely in Sichuan...I try to eat here once a week. This is one of the best Chinese in Vienna (resident 20 years); authentic taste, authentic spices, generous portions (moderate menu range) and decent prices. Not like your average Chinese restaurant in any country and I refer to very many countries. Great Ma Po... More

This place has the best Chinese food in Vienna without any competition. Must check it out. They use the authentic spices and the dishes are amazing.

This food here is absolutely excellent! I have been eating here for almost 10 years and it never ever disappoints! The cuisine is authentic, the menu has so many options. Everything I have eaten here has made my tastebuds go wild. Also the price is right. I highly recommend Meister Xiao!!

Neighbourhood Profile
The 18th district is the most inconspicuous of the listed neighbourhoods. Where else can you still watch card players at a Viennese coffeehouse, or listen to authentic Viennese folk songs with a local audience? Like most respected Viennese neighborhoods, Währing has its own street market, Kutschkermarkt, where you can best feel its pulse. One of Währing’s loveliest outdoor destinations is the small garden palace and museum Geymüllerschlössel. The exquisite 19th century interior is spiced up by contemporary art installations curated by the Museum of Applied Arts / Contemporary Art (MAK).
