A true gem for a café in Vienna! Café Konditorei Heiner is always full and no wonder. Here an occasional visitor can feel the genuine Vienna and the cozy atmosphere which results from the old-fashioned interior and the waitresses who have been serving here same custoers for years. Heiner's hazelnut cake is something that one must eat every time in... More

I do not know, maybe it is just me, but I found all of these "famous" patisseries in the very heart of old town VIenna underwhelming - Heiner, Demel, Sacher, etc. After visiting the last two, we tried Heinter on the last visit. The cakes are a bit dry for my taste. And the typicall Viennese topfen-strudle and apflel-strudle, sure... More

What a lovely experience we had! Friendly staff, very good coffee's, awesome pastries and Apfelstrudel. The chocolate and marzipan figurines look great and the cakes awesome. We would go back in a second when given the chance.

A great cafe in stephansplatz with a great location. We tried a variety coffees and all were really good. The only issue is that the service is a bit slow.

It is not so advertised bakery as those closer to the middle of Graben street, but it is very old and cakes are very tasty. There are no long rows of people inside. You can see all cakes produced and eat them in a small fancy restaurant with a beautiful and romantic interior, good furniture. Service is very good. I... More

We only arrived in Vienna just before midday and only had a quick orientation walk, until about 1pm when we realised we were hungry. A quick 'near me' check and this place came up. Downstairs was busy, so we went up to the spacious, light first floor. Good toilets and a nice lighter lunch menu were ideal. We had bean... More

Great location in the middle of the busy shopping lane. There is an old school charm to the place. We tried the Haferlkaffe coffee and "cake of the house", both were good. Service staff is really friendly.

The pastries here are absolutely wonderful. Light and flakey when they need to be, rich and creamy other times. The walnut and caramel pie might be one of the best things Ive ever eaten. Exceptionally friendly staff as well. Great place to sit and relax on a Saturday morning.

We found this bakery/cafe through tripadvisor rankings. The ranking is well-deserved and our 8 years old enjoyed her kids meal. Highly recommended if you can go on a less busy time - we went at 930am...

Neighbourhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the centre. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
