Great apple strudel. I like ice cream with warm apple strudel, but prefer not to have the two on the plate at the same time - just ends up as a soggy mess. So on request, the waiter was more then happy to oblige with providing ice cream and cream in a side cup and a warmed strudel on another.... More

This is a really nice place to get a hot drink or dessert, or pass a few hours doing some work. The service was excellent (so not truly Viennese, haha), and they don't rush you out as long as you order something. Excellent location right across from the metro station.

This place serves nice Italian food apart from the wiennese food. The spread of deserts is nice and must try some of them.

Brilliant value, lovely food, great service. Super atmosphere and authentic feel of old Vienna while keeping fresh and up to date where it matters. Spotlessly clean.

This great and large cafe has plenty of seating in twos threes and more. There is an extensive breakfast menu with an accent on "bio" products. The menu then has light refreshing lunches with plenty of salad types. Many go for afternoon tea and cakes. It's not really an evening dinner place but there are a few dishes for the... More

Fantastic. Traditional Viennese coffee shop with people debating, others reading provided newspapers, tourists like us, all enjoying the nice atmosphere. Nice to give a positive review. Hot chocolate on a cold night delicious. Warm and welcoming. Friendly staff. Watch out for the vast quantities of cream served with the cakes-have to walk miles to walk off. Had a few meals... More

Authentic atmosphere of a Viennese coffee shop, nice coffee and chocolate. Our favorite morning place in Josefstadt.

Staying in Josefstadt

Neighbourhood Profile
Josefstadt
The eighth district is an older generation’s Vienna at its finest: and this is what makes it popular with locals of all ages. Josefstadt has theatre, small independent shops, romantic passageways, neighbourhood cafés with regular clientele, church squares, town palaces and shady communal gardens. Trendy hangouts have conquered distinctive places such as the Old General Hospital (Altes AKH) and the vaults of overground U6. Theater in der Josefstadt on Josefstädter Strasse is the district’s cultural epicentre. Even if your German isn’t good enough to watch a play, you can marvel at the typical Biedermeier building and take a glimpse into the foyer. Lange Gasse houses an iconic local restaurant at its corner, as well as a legendary sweet shop and a bustling neighbourhood market every Saturday. For small palace atmosphere and a different view on Vienna’s history, make your way to Schönborn garden palace (Palais Schönborn), which houses the Museum of Folk and Folk Art (Volkskundemuseum). Maria-Treu-Platz, with its summer outdoor cafés facing baroque church Maria Treu, and the historic passageway of Lerchenfelder Strasse 13 hide top spots for insiders.
